Up for auction is this rare 1961 Chevrolet Corvair Lakewood 500 Station Wagon. It has a 4 speed manual transmission and the two carb engine. The car runs and drives. I will tell you what I know and what I heard about this vehicle. I know that recently the following new items were professionally installed. New Battery (correct), new Starter, new brake and master cylinders, uel tank cleaned and new sending device installed, new tires, il drained and changed, ar cleaned up. What I heard about this car. Bought professionally restored around 12 years ago and driven in Southern California. Was then taken to Arizona where it was sat for many years. The paint is faded from years in the sun but the interior is in pretty good condition. The radio is missing from the dash. The driver side mirror is off but is in the car. The Antenna is missing and the lock for the front hood has been punched and needs to be replaced. After bringing the car back to life, he runs and starts, ut really, he carbs need some work as she idles fast. In addition to the high bidder getting this car, e are also including a four carb Corvair engine. This is what I heard. The engine was rebuilt several years ago but it was never taken off the pallet. You can turn the crank with a wrench, ut the engine is sold as is. The engine is has all four carbs, ut they are not installed. The lights work on the car but the fuel gauge is not real responsive.
