Having emerged strongly from the Great Depression, General Motors leading Cadillac Division produced one of its all-time finest model lines for 1941. Basic styling was penned by GM stylist Art Ross, with major cues including smooth, pontoon-style front fenders inspired by the Cord 810/812 and wide egg-crate grille. Bill Mitchell, who would become Harley Earls handpicked successor in 1958, quietly influenced Earls final approval decision and contributed the clean, fender-mounted headlamp placement that he had long favored. One Cadillac engine was available for 1941 the smooth and nearly-silent 346 CI V-8, delivering 150 factory-rated horsepower. Sharing its chassis and 126-inch wheelbase with the rest of the Cadillac line except for the formal Series 67 and Series 75 Fleetwood models, the new-for-1941 Series 61 replaced the discontinued LaSalle.
Finished in Oceano Blue over flawless Grey wool upholstery, this sleek 1941 Cadillac Series 61 Sedanette is a gorgeous example throughout and benefits from attentive maintenance and care. Cosmetic work completed under the prior ownership includes re-chromed front and rear bumpers, rebuilt front and rear seats, and the fitting of correct Grey wool upholstery. Mechanical service includes a carburetor rebuild, fuel-tank flush and installation of new rubber fuel lines for efficient fuel delivery. New spark plugs, a new water pump and accessory drive belts were installed. Underpinnings include new brakes and repacked wheel bearings, plus rebuilding of all four shock absorbers, and new front and rear suspension bushings. As offered, it is a highly stylish classic Cadillac, ideal for showing and driving enjoyment. See this wonderful 1941 Cadillac Series 61 Sedanette today!
