Bill Mitchell and introduced in 1938, the Cadillac Series 60 Special Sedan... gained immediate acclaim as a design masterpiece. Highly influential, it foreshadowed many of the advanced styling concepts devised at Harley Earls GM Styling department that would eventually be applied to the rest of the Cadillac model lineup and then filtered down to the other GM divisions. Its handsome, modern body design featured a convertible-style steel roof with thin pillars, a notched rear treatment, integral luggage compartment, deleted running boards and a lower ride height with a special double-drop frame.Mild updates for 1939 and 1940 were followed by further revisions for 1941, resulting in what many regard the finest version of Mitchells classic design. The 1941 models also marked the second year of Fleetwoods exclusive production of Sixty Special bodies. Cadillacs engineers delivered greater output from the silky-smooth 346 CI V-8 engine, now rated at 150 horsepower. Possessing excellent road manners and intended for the sophisticated owner-driver, the Series Sixty Special was a limited-production Cadillac model with just 4,100 produced for 1941.Handsomely finished in Black over Gray cloth upholstery, this 1941 Cadillac Series 60 Special Sedan is powered by a proper 346 CI Flathead V-8 engine driving a 3-speed manual; transmission.
