Car description

1974 Buick Century Gran Sport Stage 1 455. 117K original miles. One of 478 Stage 1 455s made in the final year of production. Correct ZS coded, numbers matching Stage 1 engine.

I'm the second owner, and purchased this GS from the original owner two years ago. Bench seat equipped with the optional Luxus Interior Package. Air conditioning, power windows, tilt wheel and cruise control. Car has spent its entire lift in Missouri. It's very solid and complete with a numbers matching drivetrain, TH400 trans and 3.42 Posi. Everything on the car is original except for a brand new rear package tray that I installed. The car will come with the original window sticker, build sheet, dealership brochures and other documentation when sold new.

Since buying the car, I spent many weeks carefully removing a lot of the interior to do a deep cleaning. All vinyl and leather surfaces have been reconditioned. The interior is near time capsule fresh as you can see in the pictures. Gorgeous seats, carpet, headliner, OEM floor mats and door panels. There is a crack in the dash on the passenger side as the most notable flaw. It can be seen in the pictures.

The engine will turn over and run, but it spun a rod bearing and knocks. I was planning for a full rebuild, and would recommend you do the same on a numbers matching Stage 1 engine. Very little rust on this car. Floors pans and trunk floor are great. The fenders, rockers and quarter panels are also very nice. At one point, the previous owner backed into the car in his driveway, which accounts for the large dent in the drivers door. I'm quite sure a good body shop could repair it, and it's probably worth doing, as there are no rust on these doors. According to the original owner, this car was also in a hail storm two months after he purchased it in 1974. It was never repaired, and you can still see many small dings on the top surfaces of the car.

Also included with the sale of this car is an additional very nice front cowl panel since the one on the car is dented as you can see. I'll also include an excellent 1974 GS grille that I purchased separately.

My father and I are Buick nuts. You're not buying from a car flipper, but a Buick enthusiast who wants this car to go to somebody like us. And while I know I will regret letting go the rarest Buick I've ever owned, I'm simply not at a place where I can give this car the restoration it deserves. Considering how rare, complete, solid and original this car is, you'd be hard pressed to find a better candidate for a restoration. PM for my phone number if you'd like to discuss more about the car in person. Thanks.
