BMW 6-Series 635CSI Beautiful And Goregous Looking Car!!!
This 1988 BMW 635CSI is a real head tuner and I get compliments every single time I drive it. People are always wanting to buy it. Original Los Angeles California Car purchased from Alhambra BMW in LA.
Alpine White over Natural full Leather Interior!! An absolutely gorgeous, 4-owner, E24! Factory Equipment includes: 4 Speed Electronic Automatic Transmission, Front and Rear Air Conditioning, On-Board Computer, Power Sliding Slide/Tilt Sunroof, Power Windows, Mirrors + Door Locks and Fog Lights. This vehicle is in fantastic condition inside and out! The exterior finish is clean with no major damage. It only has the usual age and wear imperfections for an 32 year old car. Shiny White Original Paint. The leather upholstery, carpets, trim and interior panels are in great condition with only limited areas of wear and tear. This car is clean with no rust or corrosion. Mechanically, the vehicle is in stock format. Service Highlights Include: water pump replacement, valve adjustment with valve cover gasket, flex disc (guibo), selector + output seal. Non-Smoker.
*** Comes with complete Original Factory BMW 635CSI trunk tool kit.
This BMW 635CSI is not new, not perfect, not Concours Show but an Excellent Driver. Great Bones and Original!!
The Cons:
1) When taking off from a dead stop the car will make a clunking sound if you stomp on the gas pedal and take off quickly. If you gently take off from a dead stop you won’t hear or feel the clunking sound. I’ve driven the car like this (knowing how to deal with it) for 3 plus years. The problem is either 3 (three) things- 1) Bad subframe brushing 2) Bad center support driveshaft bearing 3) Bad U Joint/Guido Flex Disc. I inspected the subframe brushings but they look ok but you really don’t know unless you use an acetylene torch to remove the old brushings and take a closer look. I also looked at the driveshaft and I didn’t feel a lot of excess play which would indicate a flex disc problem. Never got around to fixing the problem because it really didn’t bother me.
2) Current problem. Changed out alternator with a "brand new" OEM Bosch Alternator. However, now “all the dash on board idiot lights†light 💡 up on the dash like a Xmas tree. Needs to be reset. The biggest problem now is the battery won’t hold a charge. I get 12.6 Volts with Battery outside the car. As soon as I attach battery cables, voltage drops to 12.3 or 12.4 Volts. Once I start the car and drive around, the battery still doesn’t hold charge. As a result, once I stop the car, the car won’t start until I jump the car to get it started. I believe I have a parasitic electrical draw causing the battery to loose voltage or perhaps the new alternator is bad. Again, this is problem that the new owner must troubleshoot.
3) Air Conditioning used to blow cold but now it doesn’t. It probably needs a recharge with some R12.
4) Odometer stopped in January 2020 at 178,899. It probably has only 30 miles more than what the odometer currrently reads.
5) Bosch headlights have a crack on the lenses. Will include new replacement Bosch OEM lenses.
6) The dash has a stress crack but nothing horrible like most other E24 dashboards.
7) The Driver’s Seat- left hand “side†bolster is worn and torn. I cut a piece of leather and patched it over worn area.
Otherwise, the car drives great with great power. The transmission shifts as it should.
Brand new Falken Tires P225/55/R16 on 1995 BMW 750I BBS Wheels. Chrome plastic BBS BMW Center Caps.
New High End Floor Mats-Front and Rear. All regular maintenance performed. Oil/Oil filter change, Transmission fluid/filter, new brakes, new brake sensors, tune up.
