Car description

1990 BMW 325is e30

You are looking at a 1990 BMW 325is in Alpine White with 160,890 miles and an original standard transmission. It was produced on 8/1/1990 according to the door sticker.

My life priorities have changed and this car doesn't fit at the moment. I held off selling it for a long time with the hope that I would do a full restoration but that's just not going to happen. I hope that this car goes to someone who will get it back into top shape. Even with the issues that i've listed below, the car is far too nice to part out (or I would have done so) and is an excellent platform to build a killer e30. It's been garaged for most of its life so there is very little rust - only superficial stuff.

Vehicle is Sold As-Is
Please read this auction carefully - I've done my best to disclose all the good and bad that I know about the car. Even so, this is a 30 year old car and you should approach as such. Please spare yourself the agony if you don't have the resources in your life to maintain a classic car.

I will do my best to make myself available to show the car in Baltimore, MD.

Will consider trade/partial trade for Lambretta scooters or old Italian motorcycles (pre 80s).

Pick up or Delivery
The vehicle must be picked up by you or your transporter within one week of auction close. Please message me if you will not be able to get it within one week and I will work with you. The vehicle can move under it's own power onto a transporter but it wouldn't be a great idea to drive it any further than that since it's really not been driven in the last year.

Issues
  • Salvage Title - The car got hit on the front left quarter several years ago. Damage was limited to the fender and radiator support. Unfortunately, the insurance company undervalued the car so the damage was enough to result in the totalling of a perfectly repairable car. Such is life - I went ahead and had it repaired anyway.
  • Underbody Damage - Copart further damaged the car by moving it with a forklift when they had it in their yard from the above accident The floor is pushed up about 1" in a few small areas. A reputable restoration shop inspected the damage and said they could hammer the areas flat or weld in patches from a good floor pan. I have no clue how the first autobody shop didn't notice the damage when they repaired it or I would have raised hell with Copart. With that said, It's very repairable or drive as-is.
  • Requires the timing belt service, valve adjustment, and head and oil pan gaskets
  • Transmission has stiff-ish 2nd gear which is somewhat typical. Never got worst in 5 years of driving. Strong otherwise and no synchro grinds.
  • Ignition/Steering columns lock - works but requires shaking/wiggling to release lock. This should be fixed before it gets worst.
  • Passenger Side Door Lock - Rebuilt and works but because the actual door metal around the lock is pushed in a little, it will not unlock with key from passenger side. It does work with central door lock actuation.
  • Seats - Standard broken weld issue. Seats are possible M3/vert seats or just reupholstered at some point with horizontally stitched leather. Same foam and frame as 325is seats so they can be re-upolstered to 325is spec or leave as-is since they have life left.
  • Missing trunk mount premium amp for stereo. Wiring in place but requires pigtail along with amp.
  • Wonky dash wiring from mid 90s alarm system. The stereo must be manually turned off when car is turned off. Best bet is to remove the dash and resolve wiring.
  • Exhaust needs tightening, possibly new gaskets, muffler straps and rubber hangers. Muffler, catalytic, and exhaust system is in very nice and rust free shape.
  • Dings and small dent on driver's side fender. All small dings around body, near rear license plat mount etc. Nothing particularly noticeable from 10 feet.
Good
  • Fires up easily and does drive under it's own power. However, since it hasn't been on the road in a year and the muffler needs a new hanger, I recommend having it trailered.
  • 100% complete trunk tool kit and jack hit.
  • Original Window Sticker
  • E46 Steering Rack (Purple tag if i recall, Not ZHP or Z3), sweet upgrade! Original rack included.
  • New Battery.
  • New Clutch Slave and Master
  • New Brakes, less than 5k miles.
  • New muffler, OEM mid pipe / catalytic are in very nice condition with no rust issues. New muffler hanger required.
  • New Throttle Linkage
  • George Graves / Red Rocket Labs - Auto up/down one-touch windows + sunroof switches. This is the single best upgrade you can do on an e30. Super cool and I think NLA. They were $125 each. I'll remove and sell separately If reserve is not met. I did not get around to installing the sunroof switch but it is 100% plug-and-play and included.
  • H4 Lights
  • Odometer works, was told that it went out once for a short period before being repaired.
  • Chassis is very solid, with very little rust. Basically only superficial stuff.
  • Lots of New and Used Parts Included
