For sale is a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite. I purchased this car 4 years ago and have made many upgrades to it. Prior to my ownership it had the engine rebuilt brake lines clutch wheel bearings and a few other items. This is a 1962 model with a bugeye bonnet standard opening type. It could be changed back if desired. However you get a bugeye look all the series 2 upgrades and a locking trunk!
Advantages over a stock bugeye include a larger 1098 cc engine and disc brakes. Also has the more robust "ribcage" transmission.
I have done the following:
Bugeye rear bumperettes
New windshield
New axles
Rebuilt shocks
New tires 2011
New old stock correct springs all around
new poly bushings
New front sway bar
New seat foam and covers
Rebuilt carbs
Pertronics ignition plugs and cables
Pancake air cleaners (includes originals)
This car starts immediately runs shifts and drives great. There is only very minor body rust (repaired nothing really visible) and most importantly minimal underbody rust including rear spring boxes. Paint still looks very good. There are a couple small cracks in the paint on the bonnet where it was applied too heavily. We only drove it in the rain once and recently took it on a 700 mile trip. It gets 1-2 oil changes per year no more than 2000 miles between changes. Well maintained. Very reliable I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Great oil pressure at all operating temps quick and good handling. Rebuilt side curtains. Top is old but ok. Very clean.
The bad: the engine compartment looks pretty ugly. Underbody has oil and old underseal on it. Drips a little oil like they all do but doesn't burn any. Heater works but blower not powered and radio not connected.
Car is for sale locally so auction may end early. please email me with questions. I have some underbody pics and video of the car running both hot and cold.
