I needed to pull my listing a few weeks ago due to a minor issue which is now resolved.
** I have a Youtube video of the car running but have no clue how to post it on the ad. Video is titled" 1968 Frost White Go Pack AMX " have a look, sounds great!
The wording is long but I want to make sure you understand the pros and cons of the car. I also answer far less questions. With that said, I feel that any running driving respectable looking 68 - 70 AMX under 20k to be a bargain.
I will end the auction with a good honest offer.
I picked the AMX up this past March in Paris Illinois. Some of you Amc guys may have gone over to look at it.It was stored in a garage, with minimal use during the 6 years of ownership. I believe he said under 200 miles were driven.I had planned on this being my last light restoration, which was to be done over the next year or two. I consider all driver quality cars to be projects. Our plans have changed, with a vintage truck or vintage van being a better suited for our needs. This is the only reason for the sale.
*This is a list of what I know needs addressed by new owner...
The wiper motor is missing, but the switch, all linkage and arms present. If you have or pick up a good core, there is an Ebayer who sells rebuilts with good core for $200. I use RainX.No washer pump for windshield, but bag and hoses are present under hood.In dash tach, clock are not working. I replaced the speedometer cable with what was to be correct, but bounces. The original radio is gone and replaced with a stereo/cd with a large power amp in the trunk. Ihad planned to eventually remove this as it is not my style.Glove box light not working.Horn in steering wheel not working, but small red button under dash operates the horn.
*Here are items that are either new or as new.
Front brakes are as new, with later model Large single piston calipers.Rear brakes all new. Drums, wheel cylinders, shoes, spring kit.New KYB shocks all four corners.Leaf springs in rear and coil up front have been replaced. The car has been lowered in rear by blocks and can guess the coils in front cut . Stance of the car is perfect in my opinion. Handles well.Front end feels tight with new components. Tires are Coker Classic redlines. Rears are 225-75-14 and fronts are 195-75-14. Miles are minimal but age is unknown.Magnum rims are driver quality with nicks, weak chrome ect.
*Interior,
Black interior was originally red from factory.Dash is nice with very slight crack in upper center where factory speaker was.Day - night mirror nice.Visors are nice.Center console was replayed and looks good.Steering wheel is good with 1 crack seen in photo. The headliner is in good shape with a slight droop in the middle. There were small (3"×5") patches on both sides of floorpan. There is rust repair needed on the passenger pan approx. 2"x 3", driver side 3"x 5". Both areas are behind seat pans. Rest of pans are very nice. Frame rails are solid.Carpetis older or maybe original but looks good.AllInterior plastic panels are nice except for the lower kick panels on both siDes which have small speakers mounted. The large upper rear panel has 2 6x9 speakers mountedinside, with power amp mounted from trunk. All glass mountedappears to be tinted. All have scratches. I have used auto glass scratch remover productssin the past and they work well.Seatbelts work, also haveshoulder harness.Lightswitch still buzzes when left on.Heater blower switch works as does the floor to defrost switch. The heat on & off needs work.Cable is there, but to stiff. Can move by hand but not by cable. Replacements for sale on ebay.Door panels are good as are the arm rests. Sill plates are nice aftermarket. The seats are 1970 and adequate to use now, driver seat has a tear on outside bolster. Both plastic backs have scratches and repaired cracks ect.AI planned to buy high quality after market buckets.
*Exterior
This car is very straight. The paint quality is very good, with a nice shine. It is the factory Frost White. Paint chip size of quarter on leading edge of door/rear of fender ds, that has been touched up.The car checks well with a magnet. Yes, there is filler but not alot. The lower rear quarters were done, with filler behind rather than trunk extension.Rockers are nice. Both doors are nice with corners redone with metal. Lower lip is nice on both, drivers has chips on lower edge. Front fenders nice and straight. In the front you will see that they are tacked to the inner fender.Front bumper is exceptionally nice. Amber lenses are nice.Rear bumper is very thin on chrome but nice and straight.Driver mirror nice.Rocker chrome is decent, held on by multiple screws.Small wrinkle in driver side leading edge of front inner fenderwell. Not bad, but needed to be mentioned.Grill is without cracks. The hood has infamous stress crack approx. 5 inches back from front. I was told this is typical with early 68 fronts due to less structural support. There are multiple stress cracks in paint at front of hood due to this.Trunk lid looks good. Nice trunk area with newer spatter paint. No spare or bottle. All rubbers on car have been replaced except the fuzzies and rubber sweeps on the doors.390 emblems are nice as are the circle and amx lettering . Stainless should be polished.Taillight housings are good. Lenses ok.Rear center lens has 2 small screws each side for mounting.Headlights, taillights, running lights and turn signals working right now.Reverse lights on constant so bulbs removed.*Engine, transmission ect
I feel for street use the electric fuel pump and regulator need to be replaced with a mechanical pump and perhaps a bit smaller carb. Loads up at an extended idle.
390 has definitely been gone thru. Engine is clean, good paint, no leaks. It has a lope from an upgraded cam. Newer Holley 8067-1 dual feed double bumper. Newer Edelbrock Performer Aluminum intake, with Edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers.Older steel Hooker super comp headers inprouder exhaust with generic mufflers.Unilite Electronic Distributor. Promaster Coil.Aftermarket under hood chrome steering column due to clearance issues from headers.Steering gearbox is rebuilt.Newer alternator.Newer mini high torque starter.Aluminum 6 blade fan. Radiator looks rebuilt.Brake booster also appears rebuilt/repainted with replaced master cylinder.New JEGS electric fuel pump and regulator with stainless hose to carb.Transmission is the BorgWarner automatic with manual valve body. Good strong manual shifting transmission, or cruise around town in drive.Transmission is clean with new paint. I believe a rebuild was done at the same time as the engine .
I describe my cars as complete and honest as I can. I would not buy this car if you are a purest.I have not had the time to fully shake down the car for reliability, so keep this in mind. No you should not drive it home if you are the new owner.I bought this one to have fun with, period. It looks great, runs strong and draws alot of attention. I had a 69 390 AMX 15 years ago along with a 73 360 4 spd Javelin, loved them both.
The AMX sells as is with no refund warranty ect. $1000 Paypal deposit is required immediately following auctions end. Balance in cash or bank transfer only and required within 7 days. Paypal is for the $1000 deposit only. No you can not have the car before the car is paid in full.
*The AMX is at my cottage in Harbor Beach Mi which is located in top of Michigan's thumb, area code 48441.
As mentioned, if you have a vintage truck, Bronco, Scout, van ect. and are interested in a trade contact me. Good luck bidding.
I will work with a shipper, but arrangement and payment will be that of the buyer.Check my feedback, I have been buying and seller here for 16 years.I will only ship to lower 48 states
