This jeep has been in the same family for over 50 yrs..
The owner was a very dear friend of mine but he passed away..
motor rblt in the last 4 or 5 yrs but has less than probably 500 miles on it.. and it shows b/c it all looks new.. it has been loved and cherished all its life and basically always inside a garage... or shop....
it got to a point where it went thru a motor rbld in the last 4 or 5 yrs and ….Here is what I know about it.....
It is an original 1941 slat grill jeep...
It does have a lot of the original parts that are year correct but some are reproductions.. things I know of....
The engine was replaced with period correct rblt engine..... has less than 500 miles on it... starts and purs nice....
feel free to ask questions and i'll answer the best I can... most you wwii jeep folks know more than I know probably and can ask things I have no idea of to put in here... so ask away...
It definitely has repro combat wheels on it... i'm told it should have solid disc wheels on it... but the combats where also used then...
safety stuff was important to the owner.. so repro combat wheels and 11 inch brakes have been put on it... I know that..
it has also been converted to 12 volt and has an after market starter and alternator. He wanted to not mess with the 6 volt system after having it all rebuilt so he changed those things …
It has virtually new tires less than 500 miles on it that are correct to.. firestone NDT's...
it has an t84 trans that shifts thru all the gears etc... and has the original period correct axles to...
The gauges all look period correct but the old ones were old... so those got replaced too with repros…
unfortunately most of the stuff he took off to replace with repros are gone.. like the gauges .. .the old brakes... the 6 volt stuff etc... .but if you really want that stuff.. it can be replaced as you can find it...
im sure there are other things that are swapped... but I am definitely not an expert... most of my knowledge about this jeep is internet and word of mouth by a couple guys I know that know these jeeps...research confirms to me that most of this is period correct except what I mentioned above that is repro.. i'm sure there are other things that I have no idea about and I know the owner was adamant about things being safe so he had his mechanic swap out anything that he felt needed it.. to make it safe..
it has the data plates but they must be repros too b/c they are so clean … but the frame tag looks to be original... it is the rounded ends....
It has the original split frame seats... also...
i'm happy to answer questions.. if you want to have me look at something lmk.. it does have the square body mounting plates located under where your feet go.. I thing they are called toe board mounts brackets??? or something..
It has the Willys script too.. .which only these have.. and has no glove box... which is correct too.. oh and it has the bracket underneath that is for the brake line.. in the back too...
as I said.. all the things I know of to check are real.. and the guy I got this from told me he bought it in 1956.. said it was a military navy jeep... and he loved it.. I knew him for about 20 yrs... and he loved it and used it most of that time.. after the rbld he mostly only used it on his 8 acre orchard... but did take it on the road a few times... I was with him one of those times... but his wife didn't want him driving it anymore as he got older.... he always said he would never sell it and he never did....
The metal all seems solid.... I knock all over it hard with my knuckles.. and it is solid..
I know these are very rare... and It is dear to me. .but I got this along with an early bronco... and I just cant keep them both so I put them both for sale and whichever goes first i'll keep the other...
sale is as is... where is... and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY... it is an old jeep... and I can't begin to know all the exact history of this jeep.. it runs and drives very well and stops well.... most everything seems to work... and it looks original... but It is as is where is.. I will give you a clean clear title that is in my name.. signed over to you or YOUR SHIPPER... and I will do a release of liability immediately when its picked up by you or your carrier...
I can work with your shipper.. done so a few times before... that is no problem...
...916....208...0727...… txt anytime... or call too if you want... im Richard.....
These that are real.. almost never come up on line.. so if you have always wanted one... here is your chance...
This will by my only run of this add...
Please only bid if you want this jeep... you won't be disappointed... I have had many people buy stuff and then never pay... please don't do that.. these adds are expensive...
thx for looking..
