Too many projects have forced me to let this one go....Up for sale is a very good candidate for restoration - a 1949 Willys-Overland Jeep Wagon. The 4 cylinder L-134 engine runs strong. The truck is mostly complete and original - known to be missing is the hub cap on the front passenger side & the hub cap on the spare is not period correct. The brakes do not work and would need to be addressed to make the truck road worthy. The body is solid with some minor rust issues in the usual places - panel seams & drip rail - floorboard is solid - no soft spots.... - I believe the rubber floor mat is the original & it's in good condition - the side step mats are also original but are dried & cracked - All of the weather stripping would need to be replaced. The interior is in very good condition overall - the hardwood slats look great as does the maroon floor paint - the seat upholstery is also in very good condition. The headliner has been removed & would need to be replaced. The steering wheel would either need to be replaced or refurbished as the bakelite plastic has severely cracked & chipped. One neat feature this Jeep has is the Cowbell lever on the floorboard - used in rural areas to alert horse drawn wagons without startling the horses. Sounds like a doorbell - Horns are also present. Mechanical push button door openers are unique and are functional. The surface rust spots on the rear top are a result of the being scraped when the car was originally backed off the car hauler.
