Car description |

This lovely lady has been in our family for at least 40 years and we've made some wonderful memories with her. Now she needs a new home as we are moving and can't take her with us. She was left with us by an uncle who passed a few years ago and we're pretty sure he purchased her in November 1978. He loved her VERY much and always called her Lady Luck! She has been used in wedding photography, used for displays at our county fair and driven in local parades!
She is a 1953 Willys Overland with a Ford 6cyl engine in which we installed a new master cylinder circa 2014. She has a clear title and is currently on a non-op but ran fine the last time we started her up. The lumber rack goes with her!
Along with a few fun facts about Lady Luck, our uncle provided a few notes about her flaws:- The gas tank leaks out of the top and I used JB Weld on the line so you will probably have to break the line to repair it.- The carburetor tends to backfire when starting the engine. I suspect a bad valve in the number 4 (?) cylinder. The compression is low in that cylinder or one of its neighbors.- The hood latch needs to be replaced. Bungee cords worked fine until a big semi passed by one day and blew it open!- To check the fuel level I used a rubber tiedown strap which is hanging behind the passenger seat.- In 1992, I had her rear differential repaired and discovered that she has a somewhat rare, model 53 (?) with a ratio of 5.38:1.- Both of the passenger windows glass is broken as is the wing on the driver's side.
We've tried to be as honest as possible in her listing but feel free to ask any questions you may have. She is located in Northern California, about one hour north of Sacramento so you will need to come get her or send someone to deliver her to you.
Thank you for stopping by!!
