Here is a 1961 ( last year for Willys) Willys CJ5 Jeep. It is currently registered and has a clear AZ title. You will not find a nicer original Willys CJ5. The original mileage before the restoration was 21870. A NOS instrument cluster was installed with the restoration just because I had one. I have the old speedo. to verify this. It has about 300 miles since restoration. It was owned for a long time by two brothers in Colorado who used it once a year to go Elk hunting. I bought it from a man in San Francisco who bought it somewhere along the way and did about half the restoration. Included are many pictures and paperwork showing the disassembly and restoration. Too many to show. This Jeep is reported to have been used in the 1961 JFK inaugural parade. There is info in the paperwork that refers to this. I have tried to verify this with Chrysler Historical department but they never responded so at this time it remains a mistory. The Plantation White and President Red Paint and red pleated interior are a special trim package indicate that it was more than just a regular Jeep. The restoration pictures show the original colors. The rotisserie paint job was done by the previous owner who did a lot of the restoration.
Trim restoration description
Rotisserie Paint. Under and in side looks as nice as body. Seats redone as close as possible to the old material. Best Top with two piece doors. Seat frames and springs were sand blasted and powder coated. Very rare original Jeep rear seat with all original brackets. Original Jeep wheel covers with spares. New Windshield.
Mechanical description
Engine completely taken apart, checked out and cleaned by an automotive machine shop. All std crank and bore. New pistons and rings installed . New exhaust valves (for unleaded gas). Rebuilt oil pump. A new Solex carburetor was installed. A MSD electronic ignition control box (hidden behind the glove box) and coil were installed. This engine starts and idles like a new car.
Steering and suspension restoration
NOS steering box. All new tie rods and links. Steering knuckles rebuilt and properly lubed. New springs and shocks. Suspension has not been lifted or modified. Frame was checked for straight and then sand blasted and painted. There are brackets to mount a wench on the front of the frame.
Brakes Tires and Wheels
11 inch Jeep station wagon brakes. ALL NEW PARTS. No junk yard brakes. 5 New wheels with 5 BF Goodrich 215/75 R15 All Terrain TA tires. Locking front hubs.
Drive train
Trans and transfer case checked out. Nothing but seals needed. Work perfectly. New rear axels and bearings. Front and rear differentials checked OK. All new U joints
Misc
There are many misc. parts, most from Kaiser Willys. I can't begin to list or remember them all. There are lots of receipts with the paperwork.
Not original
GM alternator, Carter electric fuel pump and regulator, radiator overflow tank.
Some of this information I received from the last owner and I can not verify it. However, everything he has told me I have found to be true. There is a lot of paper info that comes with the Jeep. This is a VERY nice Jeep and you will not be disappointed.
