Car description

My late husband and I had his and her Jeepsters. His was a '48 4 cyl. and I preferred the '50 6 cyl. I sold his already, but have had hopes of finishing this one for myself. I have come to the realization that it's not going to happen. If you're looking for something to just tinker on and drive and enjoy or an easy restoration this vehicle is just right for you.
This was bought at an auction in 2001 outside D.C. I am including a photo of what it looked like when we brought it home. We did get it running, though never drove it. It needed a wiring harness (about $200-250 from Kaiser Willys in SC or other sources) and we never got around to ordering it after he was diagnosed with cancer. We tucked it away in the carport next to our house and covered it with a high quality cloth car cover. There it stayed until just recently.
We were impressed with this Jeepster because it was solid and had a new top and seats as well as side curtains. It is still solid, though the cloth car cover got wet on the hood and caused surface rust. It's a real shame since it was nice 20' paint on it previously. I used rust prevention and painted all areas where I saw even so much as a crack in the paint. That explains the splotches on it. I didn't want further damage.
I suspect the floors and passenger side bottom of door and rocker area where previously repaired. The floors are solid as can be!
The interior and top cleaned right up from the light dust on them. The dash is nice and even the steering wheel is decent and not full of cracks like so many of that age.
I have keys for the ignition and the locking gas cap. Because of having a locking gas cap I suspect that the gas tank is in good, usable condition.
It turns over and will pop and fire with a battery and gas. It's solid.
A bonus is that it has a Bermuda bell in the floor that you stomp on and it rings.
We took the original wheels off and they are included along with extras. The original wheels have wide white walls and the hub cap clips. The wheels and tires on it all hold air and haven't leaked down so are good for moving it. You will receive one complete extra set of wheels and tires with the vehicle.
Two complete sets of hubcaps are included. This includes 3 of the 4 that came on it when we bought it (we lost one when hauling it home) and an extra we bought. We bought extra nicer hubcaps until we had a full second set so you get two full sets. One set is fairly dent free but dull. The other set is much shinier, but has some minor dings and scuffs. A full set of beauty trim rings, and a Willys spotlight are included.
Two black side curtains for the rear are included and a complete set of other colored 4 side curtains from the other Jeepster are also included as is a top boot. The window for the top and the rear side curtains are nice and clear. I just set one in the space to take a photo. Note that it's not in place as it would be for driving. The other set don't match the black top and I did not clean them up to see how they would turn out.
I couldn't put the top down by myself so laid the top boot across the back of the seat so you can see how it goes. It's an unusual boot in that it has very long pieces that come almost all the way to the front doors. It's in very nice condition and soft and supple.
There is an extra chrome bar that is in excellent condition included.
The bumper will need rechromed, but are very straight and dent-free. The front bumper has the optional bumper guard.
This vehicle has the optional 6 cyl., 3 spd. OD transmission, turn signals, heater, grill guard, fender skirts, and lots of extras.
The title is free and clear and ready to be transferred to the new owner.
A $500 deposit must be made within 24 hours of purchase and the balance must be paid with cash, bank transfer, or cashier's check within 7 days. Pickup can be up to 30 days and longer with arrangements.
It will be under the carport and protected from the elements and easy to back in to load. I can assist with loading.
Shipping and working with shipping companies is not a problem. I have done this a number of times.
Let me know if you have other questions.
