Car description

A real survivor. This is a Swedish built 1990 Volvo 740 4D Sedan RWD 4-Speed Automatic w/ OD, White Exterior with Blue Cloth Interior. This car was purchased by my grandparents in Florida in October 1990 and has been in my family ever since. It has been garage kept and is in great shape. It's been used as a daily driver for the past 30 years with no issues. Very reliable. It starts right up. Has cold AC (system was completely replaced and retrofitted to R134a in 2013). These Swedish built Volvos are nearly impossible to find, especially this year and model. The car is bone stock and about 96% original. I have two keys for the car, one original and one copy.
The odometer says 191,679 miles, but the original odometer stopped turning about 5 years ago. It was replaced with another unit from a junk yard, but that has stopped turning as well. An honest guess of the mileage on this car would be ~115,000. The title is clean and listed as mileage exempt.
The car is not perfect, but its pretty close. Here's a list of all the cosmetic imperfections I have found:- There is a small dent under the driver's side rear tail light (the rear driver's side tail light has been replaced with an aftermarket one).- The hood has an indentation on it.- The antenna has been replaced with an aftermarket unit and is currently stuck up.- The third brake light housing is cracked.- The map holder on the driver's seat is damaged.- The storage areas on the driver and passenger lower door panels have cracks.- The knob to adjust the clock on the instrument cluster is broken.- There is a scrape mark on the rear passenger side door panel.- There is some slight pitting on the driver's door chrome trim by the side view mirror.- There is some scratches on the rain catching chrome trim.- There is some curb rash on the passenger front and driver rear hub caps.- The steering wheel has some physical wear between 12 and 1 o'clock.- The accessory knobs have some wear (missing white lines or smudges).- Very light paint scratches throughout the vehicle. There is some deeper scratches on the roof and underneath the door handles. Paint is in great shape overall.- There is a metal marking on the left side trunk.- There is a tiny rust mark on the right corner of the trunk by the rear window (only rust on the vehicle. Car is clean otherwise).- There are a few >1mm rock chips in the paint on the hood.
The car is mechanically sound. It has been meticulously maintained throughout its life with no expenses spared. It starts right up and drives like the day it was driven off the lot. The engine runs smoothly and has no leaks or knocking. The transmission is in great shape. You can feel it shift between gears, but it runs through all of them as expected with no issues.
All the vehicle options and accessories work except the operation of the antenna, the rear passenger side power window, and the screen on the radio unit (doesn't display the station numbers. Radio works great otherwise, as do the speakers). Please reference the photos to see all the options this car has.
Newer maintenance items include:- Engine timing belt.- Water pump.- New Radiator.- Engine accessory belts.- Engine mounts.- Spark plugs.- Fuel Pump.- Brake booster.- Master cylinder.- Front struts assemblys including wheel bearings.- Front tires have less than 10k miles on them. Rear tires have less than 1k miles.- Fuel Pump.
The only reason I am selling the car is to retire it from daily driving. I am getting a new car and don't have the space to keep it. I would really like to see it go to a car collector or enthusiast who will continue to take care of the car.
Buyer understands the car is sold "as is" with no warranty.I will answer any and all questions to the best of my knowledge. I want the new owner to be happy with the purchase. There will be no inspection period or additional negotiation following the end of the auction. Resolve all questions prior to the end of the auction. Buyer is responsible for shipping or picking up the vehicle.
Thanks for your interest.
