About this vehicleThis 1974 Volvo 164 is an original. The owner has had it for 5 years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for weekend drives.Seller's NotesSad to let her go...but I just don’t drive her enough.ExteriorHere we have a Brahms Symphony on wheels: a low-milage, original paint (Cypress Green) example more venerable than the Sphinx. The front end is almost a shrine; just looking it makes you feel like a big-shot from a distant age. Certainly it is no Ferrari...the car lumbers about town. In truth, it doesn’t accelerate but rather gains momentum. It supplies a ride not exciting in terms of power and handling, but something just as worthy and, it could be argued, more rare: a ride exciting because it is authentic. For some, enjoying an authentic moment in an old machine is inimitable. Lumbering around town in such a machine like this can be, for the those of a certain discrimination, a radiant moment.
“There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion†said Sir Francis Bacon. In the case of this old Brick, there are two flaws: the leather covers of the front seats are torn and the dashboard has a one crack.
I know nothing about cars. I’m a book collector. If this charming 164e were a book, the description would go like this: “First Edition, First Printing, Fine/Near Fine. Dust wrapper unclipped with a touch of barely-noticeable edge-wear. A splendid copy.â€InteriorEngineCreated on the eBay Motors app
