Car description |
---|
I'm selling my 1967 Volvo 1800S. This is a stock vehicle, as it left the factory. It has the factory 1.8L 4 cylinder engine with a 4 speed manual transmission with the factory installed electric overdrive in 4th gear. This car starts, runs, and stops great.I bring it to local car shows, and drive it around town. It gets lots of compliments.
This car has never had any rust because it spent most of it's life in dry Oregon. The exteriorhas alovely patina, with overall wear to the red paint. Despite the wear to the paint, there is absolutely no rot and no accident body repair has ever been done to the original factory metal body tub. The floors, subframe, rockers, lower fenders, and underbody are extremely solidand free of rustwith no repairs ever made. This is a huge plus, as most 1800's located in the midwest are rusty or have been poorly repaired from the rust removal process.
The original 1.8L motor runs fantastic. It doesn't smoke, knock, or burn oil. It starts easily and idles well. The motor purrs like a sewing machine. The transmission, clutch, and electric overdrive all work perfectly. It is a very pleasant car to drive as it handles well and can keep up in modern traffic. I've driven it several times to work, travelling over 20 milesone way on local freeways. It has been very reliable for me. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, except maybe at night because it doesn't have modern halogen headlights.
I have had the following work done to the car in the last 12 months(I have receipts for over $3,500 worth of parts and labor):
New headliner installed
Front seat tops recovered in color matching material
Original dual SU HS6 carbs rebuilt with new jets, throttle shafts, and throttle plates
New battery installed
New upper and lower radiator hoses and clamps installed
New brake master cylinder installed
New clutch slave cylinder installed
New front brake calipers and hoses installed
New rear wheels cylinders and hose installed Rear drums were turned and new brake pads installed
Rear drums were turned and new brakepads installed
Replacement rear package tray plywood inserts made using originals as a template
Complete new ignition system including cap, rotor, points, coil, plugs, and plug wires
Original gas tank was removed, flushed, repaired, and lined
NOS Smiths fuel level sender installed - the fuel gauge works perfectly
Steering wheel replaced with very nice used one with no cracks or damage
Four new 15" Michelin tires were installed - these cost $125 each plus mounting and balancing
Known problems: The front windshield has a large crack going down the middle and is missing the chrome trim. The passenger's side low beam headlight is burnt out. The speedometer cable is broken so the speedo doesn't work (I did confirm using a drill that the speedometer itselfworks fine and turns freely), the temp gages don't work. The tachometer works but reads about 1500 rpm high. The clock doesn't work. Also, the spare tire should be replaced at some point - it does hold air fine but is old.
I have an Illinoistitle in my name for the car that is free and clear of liens. It is avalid original title, and not a duplicate, salvage, or rebuilt title. I will provide thatIllinois title with the car, along with a Bill of Sale, to the new owner.
