If you are looking for a well maintained, vintage Volvo 240, in excellent condition, that you can purchase reasonably, then look no further.

We have owned this fine car for over 4 years, and bought it as a second car from the original owner out of San Diego with 33,000 miles on it. It is a true original California car, totally rust free.It now has just over 59,000 miles on it. We bought it as Volvo enthusiasts, who admire and cherish the solid, Swedish design, and anyone who understands these cars knows they are a labor of love.

A great deal has been done to maintain and improve the car, focusing the money mainly on the most important areas: the mechanical and electrical. We performed the following important work items or upgrades: new Blaupunkt radio/CD player and speakers; all new upholstery and cushions; 2 new tires; new distributor and rotor; new high performance spark plugs (Bosch), spark plug and distributor wires (IPD); new air mass meter; new electronic control module; new, complete wiring harness; new fuel pump (in tank); new fuel pressure regulator, new idle air control valve; new oxygen sensor; new coolant temperature sensor; and recent, new Bosch windshield wipers. Of course, we have conducted timely and essential preventative maintenance, and have service records to accompany the car.

Despite our vigilant care, the car does need a few things, mostly cosmetic: 2 new tires; AC compressor replaced (went out last fall, haven't needed it since); 2 window trim replaced (we have the trim, need new plastic clips from IPD); replace driver, exterior kick plate; small, hub center cap on one tire (a $17 item), and reverse light lens on driver rear. The car runs beautifully down the road, but does need its idle tweaked. It could be something as simple as a vacuum leak or throttle body cleaning. The heavy work in this area has already been done.

Being an early Volvo, it is not loaded with frills and gadgets, but does have AC, intermittent wipers, operating cruise control, rear defrost, and automatic transmission.

We are frankly conflicted about selling our 240, but need to replace our son's worn out Toyota van, so sacrificing the 240 for a new purchase. Included with the car is a Bentley Volvo 240 Service Manual (a must for anyone who wishes to troubleshoot and plan work), Original Volvo packet with Owner Manual and Warranty & Maintenance Records, and 2 sets of original Volvo keys on leather Volvo key rings (one black, one tan).
