Up for sale is a solid 1992 Volvo 740 Wagon. The car runs but needs work to make it reliable.
The good:
-Car is pretty complete in terms of parts-Body is straight.-Has 4 matching tires (about 50% tread left on tires)-Comes with optional rear-facing 3rd row seats (not pictured)-Turns on and drives. Smooth idle.-Front and rear wipers work including intermittent feature.-New exhaust system including catalytic converter and oxygen sensor.-Stainless braided brake hoses on all 4 wheels. ABS system works.-All exterior and interior lights work.-All power windows and locks work.-Manual sunroof opens and closes.-Has stock radio with very rare optional equalizer. Power antenna works. New door speakers.-Has rare optional armrest cupholders.-Will come with all weather floor liners.-Optional front foglamps work.-Cruise control worked last time I tried it.-Front suspension was redone about 2 yeas ago and has seen about 3-5000 miles on it.-New power steering pump and hoses.-New water pump and hoses.-New oem negative battery cable-Lots of documentation on the car including original window sticker.-I will include lots of extra parts that should be enough to get her going around reliably.-Odometer works.
The bad:
-The paint is bad.-While the odometer works, the mile counter acts up and sometimes wont reset. A common issue for these cars. I do have a spare cluster that will be included with the car.-Front cowl panel between hood and windshield is a bit misaligned, I think it was due to a large palm frond landing on it during Hurricane Irma. It can probably be realigned, if not I will include a spare cowl panel from a junk yard car.-Interior is rough, leather seats are torn and carpet is faded. Heated seat do not warm up.-Sunroof rear drains are clogged so it leaks if you park it face-forward on a slight incline. Sunroof needs adjustment as well.-Front passenger side was hit in a parking lot some time ago. I rigged up some repairs. It will need a new front bumper and the fender will need to be repaired. (see photos)-Transmission is a bit sluggish to shift from 1st to 2nd at times (especially when cold). I was told this may be due to a worn check valve ball. It does not slip however.-A/C was was working but it lost its charge from sitting around. It has needed a new compressor for a while anyways. All parts to repair A/C to work will be included.-Rack and pinion has a slow leak-Alternator is weak. New rebuilt alternator included.-Typical of Volvos of the era, wiring connections are a bit delicate. All electronics work but you need to take care while doing repairs and such.-Needs new brake pads and rotors which will be included.
Spare parts I will include (not a complete list)
Timing kitDrive beltsNew crankshaft pulley.Spare new KYB struts and shocksBrake pads and rotorsA/C compressor, hoses and Volvo r134a conversion kitFront European spec headlights and turn signalsSpare cowl panelSpare Radio with radio code (has tape stuck in it)New OEM spare radio antenna mastExtra instrument clusterStrut tower brace (never installed)Roof liner kit from IPD.Misc spare interior, exterior parts and other odds and ends.
If you are in to the old rear wheel drive Volvos or just working on interesting old cars, this is a project for you. Buyer will need to arrange shipment of the vehicle.
