Car description |

Up for sale is a wonderful little 1965 Volvo 122S Coupe. It lived its life in Placitas, NM, just a few miles from Albuquerque, where the average humidity is 0% annually. This is the state you want to buy cars from. It is just like the climate of the desert that is Inland Southern California, and the car is largely spared of rust. See photos for the rockers, where some sand plugged the drains and a little rust has formed. These panels are available new from VP-Autoparts in South Carolina, who buys directly from Sweden, where they're stamped OEM Volvo. I use them for all my new parts orders in my restoration of other Volvo Amazons, like the green one pictured.
It is as pictured:B18 engine, SU carbs, M40 transmission, no radio (was not an installed option on this car), grey-tan interior with non-stock front bucket seats, one rear side window glass is broken but they swivel out so it is an easy repair, solid floor boards (where all the other Amazons I see rust first) as far as I can tell.
It does not run, I have not tried to start it. Engine turns freely and I am confident it its ability to run again, as this is the same B18 in the 3-million mile Volvo owned by Irv Gordon, of whom you have no doubt heard about, likely often if you have even the slightest inclination towards classic Volvo cars. This is a project restoration, it will need to be towed, so bring a trailer or check out uship.com as I have used to transport cars in the past.
Currently located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico (next to Albuquerque), this car is safely nestled at the "Volvo Farm" with 3 other Amazons and it has been well socialised and preserved, waiting for the right parents to adopt it.
Clean New Mexico title. Please email or call with questions, and let's close the sale and get you into this classic beauty.
Thanks for looking!
