Car description |
---|
Extremely nice 1980 Volvo 262C restomod.
Car was built in mid to late 1990's by Matt Dillon of the Revolvestore in Tucson. Shown locally; multiple award winner. Acquired from estate when Matt passed away a couple of years ago.
Mileage since build appears to be under 2,000.
Starting with a solid, rust free car purchased at the Albuquerque insurance auction (car had minor engine electrical fire, no structural damage), the engine and interior were removed, and a 1978-80 (records are a bit sketchy about exact year - no major difference in horsepower rating) Ford Thunderbird 302 V8 and C6 automatic transmission were fitted. Car has NM rebuilt title. Photos of car before and after build are available as documentation. Receipts from restoration are available as well. Estimated cost to build today is at least $30,000 assuming purchase of a solid rust free car and all upgrades.
Dash was replaced with alter 1984ish Volvo 240 dash, the interior was redone in GM style cloth, and car was painted in gold/black two tone which was recently updated to black with minor gold accents.
Extensive receipts from build which included rebuilt suspension and brakes with upgraded front sway bar (IPD) and Minilite style wheels which were powder coated. All trim was blacked out or powder coated gold.
As the car hadn't been driven much in the last few years, recent updates and upgrades include:
1. New GM style HEI ignition
2. New Motorcraft style carburetor
3. New Delco style alternator
4. New in tank electric fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit.
5. New tires
6. New front struts.
7. New lower control arms.
8. New ball joints
9. Front end alignment
10. New electric radiator fan and controls.
As the car has been driven sparingly, you can expect to work out minor details over the first few miles you drive it.
It is easily, the most solid 200 series Volvo I have ever driven. It seems like a new 1980 vehicle.
