If you are looking...you probably know this is a legendary Volvo 240 the "brick." This is a very special car and it deserves a special owner! With its round headlights, wonderful chrome, this is a super clean, low milage example of the Classic 240!
Super reliable, safe, and built like a tank. I searched for many years to find a car this clean, nice, with no rust or rot. This one is set apart from the later models having the wonderful round headlights, extra chrome trim, and a wonderful dashboard with a working clock!
While not a show car, this is one awesome driver......gets compliments E V E R Y W H E R E it goes. Everyone wants to stop and tell you about the old Volvo they used to own and wish they had kept, how it kept them safe in an accident, the time they hit a deer and was able to keep driving the car, you name it I've heard it! I had to stop taking it to the beach because I just wanted to read my book and relax but couldn't because everyone needed to know about this awesome car.
The exterior is in amazingly beautiful original condition. The hunter or British racing green is a highly sought after color and it does look wonderful on this 240. This early example has lots of extra chrome pieces on the body that really dress it up. Doors, trunk, and hood all open and close very nicely. The original jack is included in the trunk. There are a few blemishes I would like to point out (1) the sunroof has a scratch where it seems to have been rubbing when opening and closing (2) the Volvo emblem from the front grill has fallen off (replacements are east to get however) (3) the chrome strip on the drivers door is a little bent (see pictures).
The interior is immaculate. The seating surfaces are all in good shape and have no rips. The carpets are in good serviceable shape as well. The dashboard is in excellent shape, it has no cracks. I've added aftermarket tray floor mats from ipd. The headliner as in most 240's is in excellent shape. There is a little bit of grease staining on the interior of the sunroof. Door panels and map pockets are all in perfect condition (very very rare to find the map pockets not broken in these old 240's). All windows and the sunroof operate as they should. The heater motor was replaced this winter and while the dash was apart the mechanic replaced most all of the dash lights! The radio works but the speakers are original and while they still work and sound ok at lower volumes......they really should be replaced at some point.
Unfortunately the time has come to pass the reins on to someone else as I'm buying a new home and could really use the funds.
I wanted this care to be a reliable driver.....I spent a lot of time and money to get it that way. Here is a list of the recent maintenance that has been done on the car over the past year:New WindshieldNew Bosh WipersFull Tune-Up (plugs, plug wires, cap & rotor).New Micheline Tires all aroundBatteryA/C RechargeBrake Fluid FlushFuel AccumulatorFule Pump RelayNew Odometer gearBreak Booster Check ValveHeater Blower Motor (huge job---done--you won't have to worry about this one!)I have all of the receipts for this work from a local European Garage here one Cape Cod, MA.
