Car description |
---|
1979 Volvo 242 DL. I've owned this car for around five years and have spared no expense to turn it into a comfortable daily driver. This car is a clean original California paint and interior 242, with no accident history. This car is very straight, with a little patina owing to the paint being 38 years old. The interior is original, and is in great shape for its age as well. The car passed Ca smog in Jan 2017 and is tagged through early 2018.
I have added the following to the car during my ownership:Suspension:
1) All new poly bushings in the front and rear suspension.2) IPD sway bars, adjustable panhard bar and adjustable torque rods.3) Bilstien touring struts and shocks.4) Powder coated the original steel wheels a nice light gray color.5) All new tires.Interior:1) Replaced all missing interior pieces with new or nice OEM pieces.2) Added a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo with hands free calling, Nakamichi speakers and subwolfer.3) Replaced both lower front seat foam with Wagonmeister foam bottoms and stainless grills.4) Replaced the heater fan motor and heater core, by removing the dash (No cutting).5) Replaced the dash pad with a nice pad from the Pacific Northwest. (in very nice shape)6) Added a OEM tach.Mechanical:1) Replaced the in tank fuel pump with an upgraded version from IPD.2) Replaced the timing belt (Contech), pulley, water pump and flushed the radiator.3) Bosch blue Coil, Bosch distributor cap, IPD blue spark plug wires, NDK plugs.4) Poly bushings for the accessory mounts.5) Upgraded motor mounts (2)6) Bosch fuel filer.7) New exhaust from the Cat back.8) Brake pads and rotors.Exterior:1) Paint cut and rubbed and polished.2) Windows lightly tintent with ceramic tint.3) Waggonmeister snow cap.
There is more that I have done to make the car a very nice daily driver, but those are the highlights.
I live in Central California and have driven this car to SF, the central coast, LA, Reno, etc. I'd drive it anywhere, any time. I have three other 242's that are in various stages of completion and am selling this one because it is done and I want the room for these projects. I love taking these cars and turning them into daily drivers. My reserve is less than you could make a 242 as nice as this in parts alone.
