1977 Volvo 264TE "Top Executive" Limousine
One of 325 ever made in 1977, oneof four imported into the US for the Swedish Consulate. This one was located in Los Angeles, always a California car until 10 years ago. Right now located in Houston TX. All were dark blue with a gray interior.Seven passenger with removable jump seats. These were made with stretch quarter panels and stretched doors. Very unique. Volvo even had a brochure in 1977 to advertise this model. Biggest head turner I've ever driven around Southern California. After I restored it in 1988, I drove it for 65K miles. It was quite powerful with the absence of the smog control system the American V-6 models had. Cruised at 80 MPH with no problem. Car is smog legal in CA as it was certified by CA Air Quality and has a badge on the drivers side pillar. (photo below). Has a Volvo catalytic converter installed.
When restored, complete paint was done to a partially disassembled car to do it properly. Lots of new stainless steel trim, chrome and lenses. Interior was done in 1991 Volvo material because it was more durable and nicer looking than the original velour trim. This material was added to the door panels as well. Fuel system was also all replaced with new Volvo parts. I had access to all this wholesale back then and spared no expense to do it properly.
Few years back we ended having cam problems and the heads were rebuilt with OEM cams, rockers, timing chains and gears. Upon starting the car, we discovered we had a small hole in the block due to aluminum deterioration and it stopped being driven at that time. Motor is out and we have a usable short block to rebuild and reassemble the motor. Then you'd also have to repaint the car. Paint used in 1988 was Glasurit with a complete block sanding and Glasurit primer. Good base to respray over.
So if you're a Volvo enthusiast looking for the ultimate different car, here's to rarity. We also have the parts micro fiche from Volvo. Fuel system parts can be purchased from Canada parts houses as the European induction system was used there.
Look at the photos from when it was freshly restored and what it looks like now. It's been indoor stored since 1988.
Pick up is the responsibilityof the Buyer and should be picked up within 14 days. Payment expected within 72 hours of the sale via Cashiers Check, wire transfer or cash. Sorry, no PayPal.
