1982 VOLVO 240 TURBO 242, 244 740, 940, 760, 960 GLE

You are bidding on a 1982 Volvo 240 Turbo. While I am not the original owner of this vehicle. it has stayed in the family for many years. My aunt had bought the car for herself from a close friend then passed the car onto me for my 18th birthday. My experience with the Volvo has been nothing but fun memories. Not only was it my first car. but my first experience learning how to drive a stick. But with a little help and a lot of practice I was driving in no time! My personal favorite features for the Volvo are the sunroof. extremely comfy seats. & big spacious trunk. Being a Florida girl. it is perfect for the beach! But after a while of having the Volvo. I soon realized I needed to give it to someone who it could give it the love and care that it needs. Of course with a 32 year old car there are some needs but those needs are mostly minor. This particular year represents a rare blue silver mist over blue interior with 4 speed overdrive manual transmission with Turbo. Very few survivors in this condition. Miles - all Volvo aficionados knows 143k is no miles for this Brick. Engine - starts up first time. no smoke. no strange noises. turbo spools right up. It does seem to idle quite high and can be easily fixed by cable replacement. originals have stretched out over time. Oil appears clean. as do service items of cap. rotor and wires. Power steering works well. Gearbox - all gears work smoothly. Gear knob broken and needs to be replaced. Electrical - All warning lights work upon ignition on. all lights go out upon engine start up. Alternator charges battery appropriately. wipers work. as do turn signals and lights. The blower motor works at all speeds and gives heat. Temp. gas. rev. oil pressure. volts. turbo and speedometer work. Odometer appears to show orig miles. HVAC - AC system has little pressure and should be converted to 134a. it appears to be still filled with R12 - old style connectors. All AC components are present. Interior - clean. no rips. back seat has small hole behind driver seat. The dash has cracks in usual places but it does have nice Volvo dealer orig dash mat in blue matching rest of the interior. All electric windows work. however driver door latch is only operable from inside - connecting rod has slipped off latching mechanism. easy fix. Original floor mats. Body - very solid. no rust on front or rear valence/corners nor either to any of the doors/floors/sills. There appears only to be one spot of corrosion to passenger side rear quarter behind rear wheel. estimated at $250 repair. All door seals are water tight as well as the manual sunroof seal. Exhaust needs rear tail pipe. All glass is good. no cracks to windshield. Paint - very presentable. flat surface show some flattening of clear coat (no peeling) but sides show well with very few door dings. What dings are present are too small to be captured with 10meg Pix camera. Car appears to be have been repainted its orig blue silver mist sometime in its past. a good quality paint job that has withstood Florida heat. Wheels/tires - wheels are orig turbo wheels. no damage apart from a few scratches. tires have tread but could do with replacing at some point. Brakes - are strong. car stops in straight line without pulling to either side. Conclusion - car can be driven 50 - 150 miles with no problems apart from fast idle issue in stop & go traffic. out of state buyers should plan on shipping as a 32 year old car should not be driven thousands of miles without thorough servicing and 4 new tires to ensure reliability.
