Conceived as a simple, cheap, easy to produce family car, the Volkswagen Käfer translated from German into People's Car named Beetle. The car went on to be extremely successful all over the world and "Volkswagen Culture" defined generations of Americans. In July 2003, the last Beetle rolled off the production line in Mexico. Over 21 million units were produced and the little Beetle came in fourth place in the worldwide "car of the century" competition in 1999. The popular convertible model was built at the Karman factory and very built until 1979.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this very nice 1974 Beetle convertible for your consideration. Recently out of long term ownership, this Beetle spent time in Florida where it was always garaged. Finished in Brilliant Orange, this car is in excellent shape, with great paint and a very nice body. The exterior chrome and rubber trim is in great shape and the convertible top fits well. Other features 15in factory steel wheels and hubcaps with good Nankang tires. The interior features beige vinyl upholster which is in excellent shape. The dashboard is clean and crack free and is fitted with a radio, and a single gauge. The previous owner bought it from his father who bought it brand new in 1974 and he spent around $15k in a full restoration in 2008. The car is fitted with a smooth and eager 1600cc H4 that is mated to the rare Autostick transmission that is a clutchless 3-speed manual.
Tons of care has been put into this lovely Beetle that is sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who drives it. Comes with original jack, car cover, and owners manual.
