1978 Volkswagen Bus Transporter in GREAT shape. Late BAY window Bus. The old "splitties" get all the love, but the bay buses are more useable. The T4 engine, with hydro lifters, robustness,(toughest and best air-cooled engine), cruising speed at 75 mph on freeways, lots of secure space for hauling stuff or people around. Southern California car that has ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. NEVER driven in the rain! NO RUST!!! I am the second owner. The original owner (German) was a Patient of mine, for many years, and I observed the "obsessive" care the Bus received. Every visit I would tell him I wanted to buy it. He drove it daily locally. I drove it 2-3 days a week to work, later once a week to church. We retired in Ensenada, Mexico (one of the VW BUS mecca's)(one hour south of San Diego) and drove it to our home there. That's why the South Dakota registration. I had a minor surgery in US in 2017 that resulted in a MRSA infection that lateralized to my lower spine, leaving me unable to walk. Recovery is slow. The Bus was moved to my brothers hanger in Paulden, Arizona. It only gets driven once a Month. Now for the stuff YOU'RE interested in: This is a SUPER clean Bus. NO RUST!!! Ready to drive(with oil/filter service). service records, original owners manual and service manuals are included in sale. Has original factory Air Conditioning installed (just needs the pump, removed by original owner). Paint is 10 years old shows minor wear and slight overspray in areas. NO cracks in the dash. Steering wheel always covered(looks brand new). All 3 headliners no stitching undone, tight and looks good. Rubber: window bottom rubber and side felts are in great shape. Not deteriorated. Still soft. Door rubber on front doors shows slight deterioration on the corners, where the type of rubber changes to foam. All door rubber is still soft. Side door forward rubber is deteriorated with small chunks missing. Still soft. Rear hatch door rubber is very good and soft. The floor mats are in great shape.(Shag carpeting! UGH!) Currently the center seat is reversed to accommodate a table(included). All of the factory clamps are present to easily reverse to original position. Under the floor mats is the same color blue but older paint. Seats are in great shape showing very little wear. (see picture with sheep cover off) There is NO RUST IN THIS VECHICLE! The front floor(s) are perfect! Stock silver 14" steel wheels with chrome VW hubcaps. A mixture of Hercules and Cooper tires in, in good shape. There is corrosion on the surface of the wheels. (Cat pee). Aftermarket radio. the odometer reads just over 35K miles, has turned over once. Engine rebuilt @100K miles. Duct tape has been applied to the fan hoses. Catalytic Converter ( California car 99% of life). I hoped to slowly "trick" it out, as I drove it. I was going to replace all the engine hoses then door and window rubber as needed.
