Car description |

There is a reason the Volkswagen Beetle is beloved by people the world over. It is one of the top-five best-selling cars of all-time, and it checks all the boxes: dependability, reliability, affordability, simplicity, and downright cuteness! This one-owner 1970 1302 S Beetle is a perfect example of one that has been loved and cared-for through generations of the same family. Fully documented with original in invoice, owners manual, service notations, etc. Original spare tire (removed for photographs to show solid metal compartment). All chrome trim and accessories added by the dealer at purchase.
Featuring rear-wheel drive from the naturally aspirated, rear-mounted 1.6-liter (1568cc) four-cylinder engine, it won't win many drag races, but it will get you to where you want to go! With an estimated factory-rated 50 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission, and a top speed of 81mph, the Beetle was many parents' choice for a reliable car for teenagers coming of age.
This particular low-mileage Beetle comes with many maintenance records showing the owner was meticulous about his prized possession. A driver-quality repaint performed sometime in the past with a few rock chips thrown in over the years means it can be driven and enjoyed until another repaint is needed. A new front bumper was recently added, as were four new BF Goodrich tires. A few chrome dress-ups (dealer-added at purchase) adorn the car and show nicely.
Inside, the Beetle is minimalistic but in terrific shape. Roll-up windows with vinyl door cards are in great condition. The dash and steering wheel show no signs of cracking, and all gauges work as they should. A brand-new rearview mirror and vinyl seat covers greet the occupants. There is a wicker tray and glove compartment to hold your valuables. The headliner, while not torn open, does have a scar where something dragged across it.
All-in-all, this 1970 VW Beetle is a survivor that shows in excellent condition given its age. It is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner who will deliver the same love and care the previous owner gave to make it last this long. If you are looking for a great example of '70s freedom, let Art & Speed put you in the driver's seat of this VW.
