Car description |
---|
Very nice 1959 VW Bus driver with dual double doors. I bought this bus in 2017 as a project. It was originally from California and I bought it from Pueblo Colorado. It has a new 1641CC motor with dual carbs, new outside paint, reupholstered front bench seat with new foam, new gas tank and fuel sending unit, new shift rod couplers, transaxle saddle mounts and new brakes and hoses. It has 4 brand new tires. (no spare or lug wrench but there is a jack). There are more new items that are listed on repair records which you will receive.
All of the mechanical work was done by Sportcar of Colorado Springs (an air cooled specialty repair shop) with over $4400 dollars in parts and labor. This does not include the new motor.
I installed 2 new Safari windows, there are NO wipers or wiper motor. These can be added
I just installed an aftermarket roof rack which can be removed.
The entire bus was sand blasted, the rear right corner panel was replaced, the left side corner panel has imperfections. There are 2 runs in the paint which can be removed if desired. The body work was done by a professional shop and was finished and painted by MACCO using their best level base coat clear coat paint. The bus was originally red and prior owner painted inside the cab blue. The paint shows well but here are flaws in some of the body work.
There was rust on the inside floors (see photos). I wired brushed the rust and treated it with a rust inhibiter and then sprayed the inside floor with Rustoleium. The driver floor has some holes the passenger side is solid. I installed noise reduction material in the rear of the bus to quiet it. The bottom of the bus is solid (see photos)
I have a brand new rubber mat for the front cab floor which will come with the bus.
These 1950s buses were used as delivery vans and arebare bones vehicles. They are somewhat loud and ride fairly rough. My 1977 Westy rides like a Cadilac compared to this older 1959. Also, the doors do not lock.
This bus will need all inside rubber, all doors and engine compartment. The lights and horn work except for the front courtesy lights which are not hooked up.
The motor has about 500 miles on it and I would take it easy for another 500 miles. I use Brad Penn break in oil and this bus has a normal screw on oil filter. Oil was changed last month.
I have the original cab partition in VG condition which is fairly rare and not shown as its in storage. The hardware is included.
The bus has a clear Colorado title in my name and you will get all service and repair records in a folder.
This bus is 61 years old and you are buying it AS-IS
I will work with your shipper
