Car description |

- Selling my 1973 Volkswagen Beetle. This car was nicely restored roughly 1.5 years ago. Brand new custom paint. All chrome on the outside of the vehicle was new. All gaskets around all windows were new, as well as the chrome window molding was new. Headlights, tail lights, new muffler, new carb, new distributor, new internally regulated alternator, new door panels, new headliner, new carpet, new seat covers, new front windshield, all new whelton, new brakes, new drop spindles in the front, many many new various suspension bushings. New window felts, new felts in the window channels, new door handles, among many other various new parts.A lot of money and time was spent to make this a nice restoration.
- This was a restoration for my wife, but she has had issues learning to drive a standard. As such, the car sits all the time. In the 1.5-2 years since the restoration, I would bet that there has been less than 300 miles put on the car. At this point, I would rather get rid of it than let is sit there and go to hell.
- The things that I know are wrong with the car: Last weekend, on March 7th, we drove it to a local car show where it placed out of 140 cars. That was the first time that the car had been driven since "Cruisin the Coast" early last October. Upon driving the car, I noticed a humming noise coming from the passenger front side of the vehicle. All spindles, bearing, and brakes were replaced when the car was redone, so I think it may just be a brake somewhat sticking and would probably go away with some drive time, but it is there. Also, coming back from the car show, I parked the car on my concrete slab. The next morning I noticed 1-2 drops of oil on the driveway in the back of the car where it had been parked. Oil level was fine, and once again, I think this is something small that developed from a seal or something, just from the car sitting so long and may go away just from being driven.
- I had the turn signal switch replaced in order to get all of the turn signals and such working. After it was replaced, the windshield wipers stopped working. They are on the same switch. Probably a lose wire or poor connection, and they did work before the turn signal switch was replaced.
- Once again, just making it known.I want to be honest and describe the car as accurately as I possibly can. That is why I bring up these things. I encourage anyone that wants to look at the car in person to come and check it out. The cost of the paint job alone is literally more than my starting bid for the car, not including any other parts that were bought, not to mention the labor to install all of those extra parts. I also have the car listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Car is sold As-Is and the buyer is responsible for local pick up or shipping.
