1970 Volkswagen (VW) Bus/Transporter Van Bay Window California Car!

Selling my classic 1970 “bay window” VW bus, also known as the Transporter Van! This is a VW Type 2 vehicle, equipped with the VW 1600 engine. The actual engine displacement is 1584 cc (96.6 cu. In.), according to the Volkswagen Official Service Manual, also included in sale. This engine has a new single carburetor. This vehicle runs well and is regularly maintained. Vehicle typically only taken in town on occasion and estimate less than 1,000 miles of driving on the car each year in the last 5 years of ownership.

Please read the vehicle condition section - As noted, this vehicle is in used condition and is being sold 'As Is' which should be expected of a 50+ year-old vehicle. There is no warranty, no guarantee on parts or performance after purchase. Buyer is encouraged to conduct an inspection personally of the vehicle prior to purchase. I will provide additional photos and information to serious buyers - please ask questions. This is a running vehicle. The mileage value above is approximate - I am not the original owner and exact mileage is unknown.

Payment:

The winning bidder must submit a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of end of auction. Any violation of payment terms will be reported to Ebay (Note: This vehicle is being relisted, as some of you may have noticed seeing the listing previously. Previous winning buyer failed to pay deposit and final payment - individual was reported to Ebay - please, serious buyers only!). Acceptable forms of payment are either -

1. Wire transfer (routing and bank account information will be provided to buyer upon receipt of deposit).

2. Cashier's Check or Official Bank Check from U.S. Federally Insured Bank or credit union (mailing address will be provided to buyer upon receipt of deposit (certified mail or controlled delivery such as Fedex is recommended).

3. If bank loan/credit line - I will accept a check directly from your lender/bank.

Buyer has 10 calendar days from close of auction to make payment in full. The vehicle will not be shipped until funds clear the receiving bank account. Typically a wire transfer is immediate or held for a much shorter period of time than bank check. I will work with buyer to conduct the most efficient transaction and in the least inconvenience to buyer.

Shipment/Delivery:

Buyer is responsible to arrange for, and pay for shipping. I will be flexible with the shipper and I will meet the shipper in-person on the day the vehicle is picked up. Very flexible!

Local pickup is acceptable.

Extras:

I will ship all extra parts, automotive manuals/books, relevant receipts, paperwork, wiring diagrams, and title (CA "pink slip") at my expense, domestically. For international purchases, I am happy to share 1/2 shipping cost of these extra items, and prefer to utilize a controlled delivery service such as Federal Express or DHL.

Miscellanous Info and Maintenance:

Fuel gauge does not work properly - needs new fuel sending unit

Door locks - need new re-keying to match all

Front passenger seat not fully secured - needs bolt down

Paint is peeling and not in the best condition - original color is green, as can be seen in some of the interior photos.

Interior bench seat clamps - replaced new

Bosch battery - purchased 12/2016

Tires - lots of tread left; very little wear

Front left chrome mirror replaced - new (part#211857513F)

Oil change gaskets new in 2018 and oil change up to date

VW pedal pads new on brake and clutch pedals

Plugs, coil, spark plug wires, cap, rotor, points and condenser, fuel filter - maintained up to date

Ignition housing and ignition lock replaced in 2017

Fuel pump, oil sump gasket and screen replaced in 2017

Accelerator pedal hinge, pin and spring repair kit included in sale - not yet installed as of this posting

Battery cables replaced

Headlight relay replaced

License plate light housing, bulbs and cover kit - replaced

Flasher relay replaced

Main wiring loom / harness replaced with new wiring harness in approximately 2015-2016

Brake rotors, pads and wheel cylinders replaced in 2014 (see above mileage since 2014)

Accelerator cable replaced in 2014

Valve cover gaskets - replaced up to date - extras included with sale

Rear axles - both replaced in 2014
