This is the culmination of a 2 year project. Circumstances now require the regrettable sale of my car! I have over $15,000 invested. I will list some of the points of restoration and rebuild. 1968 Bug: fiberglass hood and four fenders. Weld Aluminum Rims (narrow front and wide rears) - great rubber and wide! Custom nerf bars. Custom Front and Rear Skid Plates. The body has been thoroughly gone over - any pin holes or extra holes from previous owners have been ground and sealed and or welded and painted. Doors were disassembled, glass removed and any necessary repairs made and painted inside. New window scrapers, and door rubber trim. New Hood rubber trim. Interior completely removed, any rust found ground, repaired and painted with rubberized spray. New insulation applied to interior of door panels, all floor surfaces and inside side panels. Please note, I have not installed a new carpet kit yet...the cost would be approximately $300.00 for a quality carpet kit. Inside of trunk cleaned, repaired where necessary and painted. Wiring in good condition. Headliner in good condition. PT Cruiser dark gray leather front seats. New T handle short shifter. New rear speaker tray (no speakers). Arm rests added to doors. New Seat belts (not installed).New left and right side sideview mirrors. VDO Gauges. Windshield has small stone damage. Moving to the exterior: Paint is good... no apparent rust. New tie rods, new brake cylinders. New swing axle Split Boots. All exterior lights work including the off-road light bar. Engine and drivetrain: Transmission in good condition. I tweaked the engine some...but kept fairly stock for reliability and consistent performance. 1978 type 1, completely rebuilt from inside out. new Empi Series 100 cam, new bearings, Mofoco super street 040s Heads, new Weber IDF 40 series from CB Performance dual port setup. MST Serpentine belt and pulley system, New chrome alternator and mount, high performance oil pump (Red Maxi in out full flow oil pump) and full flow oil system, remote oil filter and braided lines.Pertronix coil, standard points not electronic ignition system (seems to work better). Electric fuel pump and pressure regulator. New Dog house cooler, heavy fan shroud from SCAT. turbine cooling fan welded, balanced and plated Fan for better performance and cooling. Tri-mil Headers and tunable Super Trapp Muffler. CSP Aluminum brite with black background bolt on valve covers. New Porsche style clutch 200 mm,New clutch disc super disc 200 mm, new clutch release bearing. New Starter.
Stock Suspension - Recent shocks...I found no need to replace. This project is almost complete, in fact I just finished installing the engine before Winter...I have maybe 5 miles on the engine! Still needs some tweaking ie. adjusting carburetor, timing and so on...engine starts right up! I have a set of racing seats I will include with car. If you're looking for a car ready to go....a project almost complete...here it is! My sad loss is your happy gain!
