Car description |
---|
Up for sale is this stunning 1960 Volkswagen Bus finished in a show quality "Mango Green and Seagull Grey" paint job. The caramel upholstery is very well done with stitching that lines up and matching door panels all sitting under a beautiful mohair headliner.
The fit and finish of this Bus are meticulous down to the smallest detail, from the underbody to the inside and an engine compartment you can eat out of. I am not the owner, I am selling for a friend. He bought the Bus from a dealer in Florida where it was on display inside a glass box in the dealership showroom. There are just over 1500 miles on her with very few more anticipated before the sale (perhaps a test drive or two as it is listed locally). Currently this bus is residing on the Island of Martha's Vineyard where it was used for a couple of parades and a few family cruises around the island in the summer. The current owner is 6'4" which is why I imagine he is selling, it's a bit tight for that height.
This Bus has always been in a climate controlled garage, despite her low mileage she has been serviced every summer the new owner has had her.
A glance around this Bus and you will see the attention to detail and care provided by the restorers. Note the correct ice-pick door handles, 6 popout windows (not a factory option), safari windshields, walkthrough seating, correct high hinge cargo doors, proper deck lid with church-key apron, slash cut bumpers, bullet turn signals and round glass tail lights. Looking underneath you will see that the care followed through at the time of build with a painted underside, suspension that was removed, serviced, and painted. A lot of effort went into making this bus one of a kind and as pretty as they come.
As much as people will love seeing the Bus on the road as you show her off, you'll love sitting in the caramel stitched seats and admiring all of the thoughtful touches that went into completion. Details to note are the accessory aluminum coat hooks, long spoon window latches, caramel upholstery liner inside the parcel tray, color matched rear luggage shelf, and spare wheel complete with factory style cover.
Mechanically the Bus is bone stock with a very clean 1200cc stale air 40hp engine that also dates to 1960. A stock reduction box transaxle, stock suspension and brakes, and almost new Firestone bias ply wide whitewall tires mounted on two toned 15 inch bus wheels.
The Bus runs and drives like a new Bus would off the line in 1960 and everything works as it should.
The price is significantly lower than anyone would be able to have a build done at this quality.
No trades, serious buyers can message for links to a video and more photos.
Again, I am not the owner but I am happy to help the sale any way I can.
