The beloved Beetle convertible has endured the test of time and millions of these have been produced over the past 60+ years. Peoples Car, Love Bug, Herbie, Slug Bug, Type 1, and many other names have been used to describe or refer to this iconic model throughout the world. The VW Beetle has been a recognizable car no matter where you are and what year the car is, it is always very easy to notice. In 1979 the VW ceased... production of the car to the US market and to celebrate the last year of this car, VW only produced the convertible version for the US dealer network. The Beetle remained true to its roots, but each year the car received some kind of tweak or improvement and in 1979 this car gave the owner the best it could offer. This specific convertible is in excellent shape and has recently been selectively restored to showcase the car in its best possible way. The car was painted in September of 2019 in its original paint, Diamond Silver, and was laid in 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear. According to the owner, the engine, clutch and transmission were just rebuilt. The car has hardened valve seats so regular gas can be used. Other new items include muffler, fuel sending unit, running boards, brakes and lines, convertible top, weather stripping and fender beating, chrome bumpers and trim and the battery. The car also comes with original spare, jack and tool kit, warranty card and book.
