Car description

Up for sale is a very dry, soli, No rust, 1962 VW Convertible body on a 1966 Pan (frame) titled as a 1962. This Ghia has the 1966 ball joint front end (better than the 1962 king pin front end) that was rebuilt several years ago with low miles on the front end. Rebuilt 1966 ( higher gear than the 1962) Transmission transaxle. Only 600 mile on the rebuilt tranny. Has a new rebuilt 1835cc performance engine with 600 miles on it. I built this car to be dependable as possible while making it way faster than any stock VW Ghia.
Rebuilt 1835 cc engine. only 600 mile on engine(miles will go up slightly because I am still driving it)Dual relief case69x92 thick wall pistonsGerman 8 dowel micro polished crankGerman rodsall new bearing,New Engle 110 camNew harden liftersNew Shandeck oil pump full flow, dog house oil cooler and external oil cooler and spin on oil filterScat PullyBosch 009 DistributorNew tinsNew Kandrons dual CarbsSo what does all this engine stuff mean? Well a stock 1962, 1300cc engine put out 40hp, a stock 1970s 1600cc engine put out around 55hp and this 1835cc engine puts out around 100hp. This performance motor was designed to be dependable and fast. Built with dependability over excessive horse power in mind.

Transmission just rebuilt with new clutch, throw out bearing and rubber transaxle boots. Only 600 mile on tranny
Brakes are all new. New shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, rubber brake lines and new parking cables too.
Electrical, everything works. Headlights work. Turn signals, brake lights, dome light all work. rebuilt speedometer, new stock style tach RPM gauge, new fuel gauge. New up graded loud horn. 12 volt 2 speed wiper motor from a 1969 ghia that works well too.
Interior, All new Pea green and off white interior. New padding, new seats (rear bottom back seat has small tear), new door panels, new carpet, and new convertible top. the convertible top was not installed exactly correct. It should be unstapled at the bottom tack strip and shifted over an inch or so and restapled. Also the rubber on the convertible top to side glass was installed too far out and this keeps the side glass from being able to roll up all the way. it should be reinstalled. the interior over all looks really good and i get a lot of complements on the interior. Has real mahogany wood details. Real wood steering wheel. real wood dash knobs, real wood gear shift knob, real wood trim at to of doors. Also has locking gear shifter. You can lock the shifter in either neutral or reverse gear to keep it from being stolen.
Paint and body. This is a very dry solid rust free car. It was painted about 18 years ago and garaged kept the whole time. Previous owner spent about $10k on body and paint work. It does have paint flaws. Right after it was painted 18 years ago about a dozen deep scratches showed up. I believe this is a chemical reaction that most likely happened because it was painted to soon after the body work, and did not dry properly before paint coat was added. See pics. The body is extremely straight and the paint has a nice deep gloss and has not seen much sun life. Always garaged kept. So solid rocker panels, clean nose, and no rust. Is this is the solid California car you are looking for?
Porsche Speedster wheels and like new tires
Recently we drove this car to Lake Tahoe. That is a 90 mile trip one way from my house. We drove it up and down the hills at speeds of 70 plus MPH. It had plenty of power, ran great, drove good, handled and braked well for a classic sports car. This is a fun fast ride that was built to be dependable as possible. FYI the same designer that designed the Porsche Speedster is the same person that designed the Karmann Ghia. Many people are buying convertible Karmann Ghia over Porsche Speedster replicas and this is making the Convertible Ghia more and more valuable. The replicas speedster have a VW drive train.
So all the mechanics of this car has just been gone through and repaired or replaced(less than one year ago), all new rubber hoses, new brakes, engine, and transmission. Over $20k investing.
For sale to the 48 states only. I will take cash or check, but if you pay with check the car can not leave my house until my bank clears your check.
I will work with your shipping company. Let me know if you need help with shipping( I have had several cars shipped in the past)
