1965 VW Bus
It underwent a complete restoration in 2019. Most of the van is new from top to bottom. Van was sand blasted completely inside and out, and then it had all the rust spots cut out and new green metal installed. It was then painted inside and out. Underneath the van was blacked out, inside is white, outside is Navy Blue and white.
When reassembling the van it was given an rewired, along with a new fuse block. The 1600 engine and the brakes were rebuilt in 2018. All new glass with stainless frames where installed. Front safari windows were installed.. All new gauges were installed, along with custom seating for 7. The seats are upholstered with Sunbrella, making them comfortable in all weather, but more importantly making them easy to clean. Interior front panels are all custom stitched in matching colors to the seats. We added seating for 7 so the kids and their friends could come along. Behind all the panels is dynamat, which is also under the custom bamboo floors. The van doesn't have the normal echo inside, it is a very nice sound, which makes it great to listen to the custom stereo system with 6 Marine grade 6.5s and powered 10inch sub. The van has iPod connection and Bluetooth, along with a separate base control knob. The interior is custom designed specifically for functionality by one of the top custom furniture makers in our area. We added custom hidden cubbies underneath the seats, along with cup holders and storage bins in the back armrests. Most of the finishing's are put together with stainless screws throughout the van to prevent rust. We installed interior Led dome lighting which really makes the van easy to see in and use at night. Front head lights and all markers are new, new rear taillights and they are LEDs. New lenses in the backup lights. Inside every handle and knob is new, along with the steering wheel, and blinker stalk.
There is nothing on this van that wasn't gone through and either restored or replaced. Van is absolutely ready to go and it has loads of power; it will travel at 60-65 with no issues at all, and is a really comfortable driver. You will never meet a stranger with this van; it gets more attention than a Ferrari and is well loved by all car and non car enthusiasts. I am sure there are lots of details I have missed. It stored indoors mostly, but we have added close to 600 miles since restoration.
