First and foremost check our 100% feedback. Second - We will never "PUFF" an ad to make a sale. Just released from 30+ years covered storage is this 1979 Laser 917 rare C body, one of about 50. The A & B body molds were destroyed in a fire. The C body had a run of about 50 before the final D body was produced. This is one of the finest original factory painted lasers with original Western Hurricane wheels .
This laser is based on a VW beetle chassis with a Type 3 motor. I'll start with the motor - after checking the oil, we shot a few squirts of starting fluid into the carb and only after a few turns, the motor fired right up. We kept it running on starter fluid for about 30 seconds. All of the fuel lines and hoses are brittle and dry rotted and so we did not go any further.
The car has an optional disc brake setup. As you can see in the pictures they need to be cleaned and painted. The car as is has no brakes but the brakes are not siezed and rolls freely.
The entire wiring system is brittle and needs replacement. A new modern fuse box and wiring harness is included with the car. A new Grant steering wheel is included and needs to be installed.
Floor pans are soft and rusted and need replacement. For those of you that know VW's this all easy work although somewhat labor intensive for the novice. Buyer responsible for local pick up only or arranging shipping from 60177.
