Car description

The engine has just been rebuilt. It's an air cooled 2.0 liter - the same it was originally equipped with (I bought a rebuilt engine and turned in my core). The engine willneed a valve adjustment in 500 miles (normal for rebuilt engine). The only non original feature is that instead of it being fuel injected, it's now carbureted. New clutch. Transmission is good. Gas tank is 3 years old. I've replaced a lot! The camper top is in excellent condition. I recovered the upholstery but the original is still beneath. I bought a tan carpet kit that is in very Good condition. What else? I painted a mural on the ceiling above the bottom bed. In theory, you can sleep 4 adults (2 up, 2 down) but I've never gone over 2. The refrigerator, sink and stove are all there and original. I never used any of that so I cannot attest to their operating condition. I use the fridge for storage.
Rust - yes. It has some. Surface rust, all of it. The only exception is the passenger side step. I've seen this metal piece for sale and it's an easy fix. It needs window bumper things to keep the glass from rattling around inside the doors. It could use plenty of things (all easily available at places such as busdepot.com) but it's all cosmetic. This baby has good bones and a good heart. There are scratches and a few dents. What do you expect from a 37 year old camper? It's been camped in! Been to Yosemite, Mammoth, over the Rockies. So much fun. Slow? You betcha. But this car is proof of the adage - " it's the journey, not the destination". If you're in a hurry - don't buy this car. If you want to not have to warm up a car for 5 minutes, move along. But if you are into embracing living in the moment and enjoying your journey, then do I have a car for you!
You are welcome to come and view the vehicle. It is located in the Los Angeles area. Contact me.
Oh! An important note: this is NOT a California car, despite the useless catalytic converter I added - it will never pass smog. Your options are to register it out of state or to pay for an illegal smog (about $200 every time). I can send you off with your first smog check to register it, but after that you're on your own. Full disclosure ;)
