VOLKSWAGENBEETLE CONVERTIBLE1965
Available for sale is a 1965 VW Beetle Convertible, with a clean California title, currently registered with 85K on the odometer. This Beetle began its restoration about 4 years ago, and since then has been almost completely restored.During the 4 years, the Bug received new body and paint, complete upholstery, all new weatherstripping and seals, new chrome and trim, new brakes, new tires, new steering gear box, and new electrical. The 1300cc engine (engine number: F1843924) has been regularly serviced and maintained during the last 4 years with various wear parts rebuilt or replaced. It runs very strong, always reliable, has barely a few drips of oil, starts strong every time on first turn of the key, and has not needed an engine rebuild in the time of ownership (was probably rebuilt already in the past). The transmission is great, with good clutch, smooth shifting in all gears, and good(accurate) shifter bearing.
The restoration began with body and paint about 4 years ago, and didn't require any rust removal, metal replacing, or accident repair (always a California car). The bug is finished in Bahama Blue. Still looks great with lots of shine after 4 years, and without any serious signs of wear. The undercarriage is original, solid, but does show prior pan repair. This Beetle is registered as a 1969 Beetle Convertible, with accordance to the vin on the pan; 159434841. The reason for this is because in the 70s-80s when your beetle had a rusting pan, it was common for shops to swap completeundercarriages, instead of just cutting and replacing the floor. This is back in day when bugs were super cheap, many bugs were readily available, and it was cheaper to simply swap the pans from the local salvage yards. Therefore its a complete 65 convertible body on a 69 convertible pan.
After paint, the Beetle received a complete new interior with new seats, carpet, door panels, steering wheel, vinyl top, headliner, sun visors, restored rear view mirror/light, and re-chromed window frames. All weatherstripping, seals, plastic plugs, window regulators, rubber gaskets, clips, hardware, insulation, window liners and felt, etc have been replaced this year. The white wall tires are only a few months old, are Cooker Tires, and make the drive much softer. The wheel caps are excellent. A spare is included with original jacking tools. The bonnet has a new carpet kit with new luggage tray. A complete new electrical wiring harness was just installed this year. all lights and electrical functions operate on this car, including the cigarette lighter/charger. This Bug was restored to original specification of a 1965 Beetle. The dash is uncut. No stereo. The convertible top is excellent, and the top boot is only a few months old.The suspension is mostly original or serviced during prior ownership. The bug feels tight, with good steering, no pull braking, good alignment and soft on bumps thanks to the new tires. This Beetle feels confident in city operation, and keeps up and stops safely for city use. It is reliable and feels safe up to 70mph on highway. Its equipped with seat belts for all 4 passengers, and has keys for all doors and locks.
This convertible has enjoyed its life on the California Coast, with weekly use on beach cruises and coastal drives. Its not a garage queen or a show car, its enjoyed regularly. This 60s icon is a working model with many appearances in commercials and ads.Very presentable and charming to compete for awards at your local car gatherings! This Bug is ready to continue its life with a new family, and provide joy in someone else's life!
