1967 Volkswagen Bug
Project Car.
Found in a field after being parked for 30 years.
One Owner.
Original California black plate car.
Original owner purchased new in 1966/67. She drove it daily until the early/mid 80s when her son took over driving it in high school. He had the whale tail installed and painted it maroon (originally white). He stopped driving it in 1988 and they parked it out in the back field, where it has been until this year. At some point during it's time on the road the original engine was replaced with a 1970 1600cc single port engine (completely stock). Also at some point in it's life on the road, the driver's side door was replaced with a newer model door, so it has the 68 and newer handle and vent window latch.
Since I aquired the car, I cleaned it out completely, and removed several items that are damaged beyond any repair, including the door panels, headliner and carpet. I also put new tires on it, because the old ones were shredded.
The original owner could not find the title, but I did get a bill of sale from her to me, and I will provide a bill of sale to the buyer.
This car is a great project for a restoration.
Body is pretty straight. No rust on the exterior, besides surface rust. It does have rust in the rear passenger floor and the package tray. Both areas are rusted through and would need the panels replaced. See pictures for better reference.
Glass is all good.
New tires.
Seat frames are good. Interior is complete except for front door panels, headliner and carpet. Headliner bows are all there.
This car has an original "Uni-Vent" air vent system. Very rare.
Motor is a 1970 1600cc single port which is complete. It does not turn over by hand. Not sure why, but likely will need to be torn down to be freed up.
Transmission, suspension and brakes are all original and in unknown condition.
This car is a project and almost every part on it will likely need some form of work or replacement. It is a complete starting point, and will make a nice car when finished. It is way too nice for a parts car.
Any questions please ask.
Reserve is set low for what this car is. If there is enough interest, I will consider dropping the reserve.
Shipping will be available within 200 miles for an additional fee. Otherwise local pickup.
