Car description |
---|
You are bidding on a nice, solid, original, small bumper VW purchased new at Gene Thompson Motors, INC, in Indiana. The car is a January, 1965, built car with original engine.
It has less than 69,500 original miles on the odometer which appears to be the original mileage, the engine is the original, 1200cc motor that came with the car, (see photo with engine number). The car run great, shifts and stops as it should, and uses no oil. It has been converted to a 12 volt system for better reliability, starting, and safety. The radio is still the factory 6 volt, so a 12 volt AM-FM is in the glove box, but needs to be hooked up. The carburetor was rebuilt. Tinted, swing out rear windows were installed last year. In the last 3000 miles, over $800.00 of mechanical work was done to this Classic for reliability, and so the driving experience would be trouble free. (see the two pink invoices in the photos). The floor pan is in super, solid, condition, with just a few minor pin holes by the master cylinder, (see photos). Overall the body is solid. and will clean up nice, (see the photo where I spent less than 90 seconds, with a paper towel, and some polishing compound to show how a little elbow grease, or a polishing wheel will bring back the luster to this classic '65). I have a clear, Michigan title.
Please take a good look at the vinyl Dealer folder that open three ways to display the original, owners manual, original warranty card, catalogs to dealership locations, dealer accessories, and service information.
What could be done by the buyer if you choose to: New carpet needs to be installed. The headliner is very acceptable with a few small holes, (see photos). The hood of the car has some paint peel, (see photos).
This is the kind of car that I have driven to our local Car Cruises, and it gets plenty of compliments, and stories about how "I had one of those!" back in the '60's...
Enjoy this VW the way it is with the patina, or take some time to wheel it out, and polish it to bring back the luster, or, if you choose, this is a perfect, solid, straight car to restore.
You are bidding on the 1965 Volkswagen in the photos in as is condition, with no warranty implied. This is a 53 year old car, and does have minor nicks, and scratches, so please look at the photos carefully before bidding, or feel free to ask questions.
Buyer is responsible for all transportation costs and arrangements. The car is located in New Boston, Michigan 48164.
A $250.00, Non-Refundable deposit is required no later than 48 hours after the auction closes.

I am hoping that these questions are showing up...I have tried to answer a couple of questions, but when I try and post them, I get a " Sorry, something went wrong, try again", and then the question doesn't pop back up, its gone.... A question was asked about the paint, it is not original paint, it appears that it was repainted several years ago, in what appears to be the original color... If you have questions regarding the car, call Mark at (734) 968-1281...
