1970 Volkswagen Squareback
This is my personal project car. It's a California rust free car. Other than surface rust there isn't any. NO CANCER ON THIS CAR the pan is solid as you can see by the pictures I've posted. I removed all of the carpet in order to check for rust. I've been under this car many times and the pan is solid. I wanted a completely stock car other than the motor and was planning on making a few other minor changes. It has a new 1776cc eingine with only 1200 miles. The motor was built in San Marcos California by the winner of 3 Baja 500's Headflow Masters. I used all new parts other than the block. The empi carbs are brand new and so is the electronic ignition. It also has an exterior oil cooler and oil filter. It also haspowder coated tin that was done when the motor was built.
The transmission has 4000 miles on it.
One of my favorite features of this car is that it still has the original VW key and it works on all doors and the ignition! Really cool.
One of the upgrades is the empi shifter. I just put in a new shifter bushing so it shifts smoothly.
The fuel lines and all of oil lines are brand new. I even changed all of the fuel lines in the trunk so it doesn't smell like gas.
Everything worksincluding the heater, wipers, blinkers, dash lights, original VW horn, high and low beams, brake lights, reverse lights, marker lights, speedometer, odometer &gas guage even the license plate light works. I put in a new emergency break cable so the emergency break works great. The only thing that doesn't work is the clock. I even replaced the drain parts on the front vents (between the trunk and the windshield) which is what allows the windshield vents to work. (the part that we use as a windshield defroster.) Almost all of these are completely rotten so they don't work but on this car they do.
The rear light lenses as well as the front blinker lenses are also new.
It has brand new tires. 165 all the way around
The starter and charging system including the battery and regulator are brand new. The generator was replaced with an original VW type III generator from a pick a part and works perfectly.
As for the body, The front hood pops however the hinge needs to be welded back on. It looks like the original hood flew open and the hinge came off. It has an original antenna (still works) and all original mirrors. I put in genuine VW sun visors. The door and other panels are all geniune VW. I was able to choose the best available at a VW pick a part. They are in very good condition as pictured. It also has genuine VW heater boxes so no rattling like the after market ones.
Many new body and window seals including doors, windshield, hood, hatch and rear windows. Windshield is new, all other glass is good including the pop-out side windows. Roll up windows work effortlessly. Doors open and shut perfectly. Excellent body lines all around with no signs of any trauma/accidents.
Runs strong, drives straight, stops, steers and starts like it should.
Miles on the odometer show 54k, true miles on the car unknown. The motor has 1200 miles
It needs normal body work and paint and interior (under the seat covers is basically the seat frames in very good condition, I drive it this way and it's fine. Just wanted to make sure you understand there isn't and padding or vinyl on them)
Squarebacks like this have gotten increasinglydifficult to find. Don't let this opportunity pass you buy, it's the one you have been hunting for.
Pre-purchase inspections, welcomed and encouraged (anytime prior to auction end).
