Car description |
---|
Up for sale is a rare tornado red 1986 Volkswagen Scirocco 16v with about 109k miles (it's an 80's german car, the odometer is broken). 5 speed manual. If you know the model you know how cool and rare it is (I know what I have joke inserted here). Clean title. It's heavily patina'd but runs and drives well. I've used it as a daily for the past several months and was told it used to be autocrossed on weekends for a little bit.
I purchased it about a year ago from a friend to fix it up and turn into a quirky, fun daily. I love this car and it has served me well but I've moved on to other projects. This is definitely a project in progress, but as it stands it runs and drives reliably. Not including my time, I've spent about $2k on the car to put it in this position. The car was neglected for a few years and I wanted to bring it back up to good mechanical standing, and I'm hoping whoever buys it will continue this journey.
109,xxx miles, estimated. The odometer was broken at 108k when purchased and I was told that it was fairly accurate as it had broken right around when the previous owner stopped driving it (the car sat for a bit). I attempted to fix it using parts from another broken odometer from a 16v but, you guessed it, the gears were all broken. I adjusted the odometer to read 109 to more accurately reflect the miles I put on it.When I replaced the LED bulbs in the cluster I forgot to re-attach a ribbon connection, therefor the tach no longer functions. It just needs to be taken back out and re-attached, I might fix this before sale if I have time. The fuel level and coolant temp gauge still function.
Under my ownership the following maintenance items have been completed:
- Replaced both windshield wipers
- 4 new all season tires
- Low beam sealed headlights replaced
- Battery replaced
- All belts replaced
- AC deleted, new stainless steel pulley from toywagen
- oil change, 20w50 conventional oil
- New Battery, 2018
- Brake fluid flush, DOT 3
- All new fuel injector sleeves and seals, injectors were cleaned while out
- cluster bulbs were replaced with LEDs.
The car will come with a great condition Bentley manual and the original paper work from the dealer and owners manual. Clean title in hand ready to go.
