Has up for auction a very low mileage 1972 VW Super Beetle convertible is very good driver quality condition. The Beetle features the rare “Autostick” option and has 11,276 documented original miles.
In January of 2015 with then having 9,934 miles, underwent a complete engine overhaul. Receipts totaling $5,484.00 show all that was done. Only 1300 miles were driven since it’s complete overhaul. All receipts will of course go with the car.
The exterior shows decent. Typical road wear and minor chipping are evident close up. No rust or damage but could use a re paint in the future. . The convertible top is in great shape and does come with a matching boot. All the glass is intact and the window cranks work nicely.
The interior is in super condition. The fabric covering the seats are newer and in wonderful condition. Same can be said about the dash, door panels and carpeting. No rips or tears anywhere. The trunk compartment is also carpeted. The Super Beetle model allows for more trunk storage with the spare hidden away instead of mounted in the trunk.
The underside is acceptable. No sign of past accidents or frame damage but does have a significant amount of surface rust. We don't spray the underside of our vehicles or make any attempts to hide any negatives.
The newly rebuilt (now carbureted) 1600 Ci motor runs smooth, smoke free and quiet. The “Autostick” option shifts smoothly through all the gears. For those unfamiliar with the autostick it differs from a tradition manual transmission. The clutch will only have to be applied with starting out in first gear. The next three gears shift without using the clutch. Starting out is the only time the clutch is needed. Great for those who enjoy shifting but not necessarily having to use a clutch.
This is a really nice example of a classic Beetle that can be driven anywhere and often. And with only 11,266 original miles, there is a lifetime of carefree driving left in her.
