Car description

Runs great and can go anywhere. This car has a lot of live left in it.
1980 Fuel Injected Volkswagen Rabbit C has about 61,500 original miles on it. I love this car because it's fun to drive and always starts up conversation wherever it goes. I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I have.
The interior of this car is near excellent condition, with the only flaws being a cracked dash (seen in pics) and a pup chewing on one of the rear seatbelt buttons. No rips or filth on the seat canvases or hatchback cover.
The color of this car listed on the build sheet (included in sale) is Mountain Green which goes very nicely with the beige interior. Also featured on the exterior are silver rabbit stripes with what the build sheet calls custom molding. The roof rack is factory and adds an adventurous look to the car. Overall the car was built with 22 options per the build sheet. They include rear window defrost, 200 w cooling fan, dual rear speakers, am fm radio, fuel injection, controllable outside mirror.
The reseller whom I bought this car from in 2016 was the second owner. I bought it with about 47k miles on it and have been driving it to work frequently so it has a whopping 61,500 miles on it now. He installed new fuel system parts, coil-over shocks, "Borla" exhaust, four new speakers, new Euro-bumpers, hemp-like floor mats, and had the original rims powder coated. It handles and rides pretty good for a small car. In the time I have had it I have added an awesome racing header to the exhaust, replaced the battery, and the fuel pump. The fuel pump has been put on a discreet direct hot switch under the dash to avoid the complications with the fuse box (see below).
There are a few problems with it that do need addressed. I still drive it the way it is, but some people may not because os some electric issues. The circuit fuse box under the dash really needs replaced to completely correct the problems. Like stated above the fuel pump is on a discreet switch to manually turn it off and on. I have used it this way for about a year w/o issue. The fuse box has created problems for the dash blower fan (not radiator fan-its good), turn signals, tail lights (brake lights work), radio, and wipers. All must have electricity is good for actually driving though.
  • Another mechanical issue is a broken brake cable. The brakes are practically nonexistent due to what I believe is a broken cable. This occurred when I was pulling the E brake for a hill parking situation. The brakes are good other than this cable. I have never had it corrected because I can still manage driving it on the highway when using reasonable caution. I'm pretty sure all the pads have been replaced on it too. Original owner was a school teacher in Iowa, so this car does have Iowa rust. I think it adds to the petunia. Include are original bumpers and Euro bumpers. It sits now with just the Euro-bumper on the back and no bumper on the front-just for looks. I have put in a am/fm/sd card head unit, but the original is included and should work fine if rewired. Gas cap in photo was recently lost and current aftermarket one is currently on it. 13" tires will need replaced soon, but like most things on this Rabbit they're affordable. I have tried my best to describe this units goods/bads here, but do feel free to hit me up with questions. 7 DAY AUCTION-CST HIGH NOON ON SATURDAY. My link below is a video I made this morning, but it shows my wheels and tires (not included). Wheels and tires included are seen in the still pictures. Cash in person within 7 days please. Located in Buffalo, MO. This site did not allow the link for a video I made search you tube for Neitzert Rabbit, and it should pop up a thumbnail of the rear view hatch open. And.....the drivers side window needs a new inside bracket. It's up but inoperable.
