Up for sale we have a 1965 Volkswagen Bug. This is one of the best years for the Bug as it received a new more open look. The older style was more closed off due to the smaller windows, thus the '65 model was the first year for the more modern look. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Volkswagen, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of this Bug. Looking at the exterior of it you will notice that it has had a repaint at some point in the past couple years. The Black paint, which is the factory color for this '65, covers a solid body that has good fit of the doors, hood, and decklid. All the beading around the fenders and the weather stripping around the doors looks good. You'll notice this Bug has a new roof rack installed along with new Sun Shades on the doors. The rest of the chrome and stainless is very nice with the bumpers appearing to have been changed at some point. To finish off the look it's sitting on a set of factory style chrome Bug Wheels with the correct caps.
Next, we will look at the interior of the '65. On the inside it features the white and black color combo, which is the perfect complement to the exterior. From what we can tell the interior appears to be original with some minor imperfections from age. The seat covers, door panels, and headliner are done in White. While the dash, carpet, and metal trim are done in Black. Looking at the dash it has the stock Speedo and Gas Gauge, but the radio has been upgraded to a Sony CD player. Under the hood you will see it has the Spare, Jack, and Lug wrench.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this VW. Under the decklid you will find the 1600 Dual Port Engine. Originally it would have had a 1300 but this one has been upgraded. Also, the charging system was upgraded to 12 Volt. The engine is mated to the stock style 4 Speed Trans Axle Trans. This Bug has the four-Wheel Drum Brakes and Factory Steering. When you look under it all the pans appear solid and in good condition.
