Car description

Up for auction is one very nice 1978 VW Scirocco, Silver on black, always garaged and very loved dry western states car.
Purchased new in 1978 at Alpine VW in Lakewood Colorado and driven by the original owner up until 2005 when she no longer felt she should drive any longer.
She gifted the car to her adult son who stored it in the back of his shop for 12-ish years until this summer.
The gas tank was flushed, a new fuel filter, fuel pump, and battery were added to get it going again and the son sold the car to me.
Since acquiring the car I have done some cleaning, added new tires, and a few hundred miles of driving.
it has the stock 1.6 liter with a 4 speed stick with a little over 102k on the odo, almost every mile clocked by the original owner, and every single tank of gas has been documented by the original owner in the included log book.It looks like most of the miles were road trips between Denver and New Mexico (Belen & Sante Fe).
Aftermarket AC that is ICE COLD, I believe this was dealer installed when new.
The sunroof also appears to be dealer installed and is period correct. The install is very professional and the sunroof and its hardware seem to be of very good quality.
The interior looks to be 100% original and in near perfect condition!
dash is beautiful and completely crack free.
carpet looks brand new
seats also look brand new, it had sheepskin covers for many years preserving the original seats.
radio works, volume knob stuck at mid level.
*only interior problem I see is driver door panel has a few marks from seatbelt latch hitting edge of door when closing. (very minor)
The exterior looks really great but does have some rock chips and minor wear marks from the bra.
The hood, roof, and hatch all wear the original paint.
Both sides of the car were professionally re sprayed at some point and the color match is very good.
this is a very rust free car with the exception of one tiny spot! in the front drivers side fender lower rear corner there are signs of bubbling paint, a few dime size spots and this is in the lowerfactory chip guardsection of the fender. easy fix.
In general Id say the exterior is a "5 footer”, not perfect but shows very well.I thought it was the original paint till I got very up close and personal.
All the door rubber and window seals are in great shape.
The original motor and trans are clean & work well.
Its a bit cold blooded at startup but once warm runs and drives down the road very smoothly and the car is a real pleasure to drive.
It has KYB shocks that are in good shape and brakes work as they should.
I can meet a shipper to help load the car. vehicle must be picked up within 2 weeks of auction end.
I welcome andencourageinspections and or questions before bidding, thanks for looking!
