NO RESERVE AUCTION
1966 VW BEETLE
IN STORAGE ALMOST 40 YEARS
NEEDS RESTORATION CLEAR CONNECTICUT TITLE
Offered on a 3 day NO RESERVE auction is a 1966 VW Beetle stored for the last 39 years in a garage. Last registered in Connecticut in 1978. Clear clean Connecticut Title from 1974 when the previous owner purchased the car from his father.
1966 is a unique year for the Beetle. Only year for the 1300cc engine. Horsepower up from 40hp to 50hp at 4600 rpm. Last year for the 6 volt electrical system. Considered by many VW collectors to be the best year. Small bumpers, covered headlights and the sportiest engine supplied by VW in the Beetle. The color is called See Blau (Sea Blue code L360), a great period color.
Stored in a detached garage for almost 4 decades, this Beetle does need some help. Rust is evident in areas under the dash, in the side rocker by the driver's seat and in the trunk as shown in the photo. Other areas also. Some of the usual spots like the battery box and spare tire well appear solid. Steering column needs to be reattached to the dash. Rust there also. If you desire the original survivor look, the good news is most of the rust is not in areas visible on the exterior.
This car does not run. It will need to be towed or trailered. The original bias ply tires from 1978 still hold air but are not safe to tow or drive on. Should be transported by flatbed or trailer.Engine will turn if you push the car in gear. Mice have eaten some wires (there aren't many wires on this car). Odor de Mouse in the car. Needs to be pressure washed and cleaned inside and out. We have made no attempt to get the car to run. Needs to be completely gone thru before anyone uses the car.
This is a no reserve auction so the high bidder gets to buy the car. If you need to clear this with your wife, or need to find the money or figure out how to pickup the car, please do that before you bid. $500 deposit by paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Payment in full within 7 days of the end of the sale. Cash or wire transfer please. $200 dealer conveyance fee in addition to your high bid.
Any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me. My name is Dave my phone is 203-648-6818.Sold AS-IS. Located in New Milford, CT 06776. Needs restoration. Does not run. Will not run without work. Great period look but does need repair. Please understand this. Good Luck to everyone.Dave
