Up for sale is a 1969 Volkswagen Fastback in great condition. The car is in great interior and mechanical shape, with only a few exterior issues. The engine and transmission were recently replaced and there have been several mechanical upgrades to these parts. The car has a few negatives in the paint condition keeping it from being a true perfect car. I'll list all of the modifications and restored components below. This car has been a great drivers car for the years I have owned it, I am selling it because I feel bad using it as a daily driver. As a classic, I don't think I can care for it to the extent it needs to be looked after, and I feel bad adding to the ONLY 61,000 original miles.
Despite being a classic car, I have found it to be incredibly practical with its rear and front trunk space, and spacious back seat. This is an automatic model car, which was swapped to the factory 4 speed manual transmission because of the problems with the automatic trans. The motor is brand new and features an upgraded 2180cc displacement.

New headliner

New floor mats, all in great condition except for a small gum stain on the rear right mat.

Clock has been removed because it is non-functional, but will be included with sale.

The paint...
Paint is in "good" shape across the car. There is a very bad cracking issue which is happening only on the hood. This has been getting worse slowly because of expanding bodywork beneath the paint. This has been factored into the price, and thankfully the hood is the only area of real paint concern besides a few blemishes on the rest of the car, which are in the photos.
Mechanics:
The previous engine was a faulty crate motor, which I replaced with the VOLKSRACER 82mm. It is a bored and stroked motor with a displacement of 2.18 liters. It features: 1.25 rockers, dual weber ICT carbs, a C-45 camshaft, 92mm Mahle cylinders, brand new SCAT block, brand new ISP West oil cooler, new spark plugs, spark wires, lightened flywheel, finally a forged crank and connecting rods.
The car comes with a stage 1 clutch which is surprisingly easy to manage because of the engine's great torque.
The motor provides plenty of power for this car, it is a really fun motor to drive, and it is paired with EMPI quad exhausts that make it sound great.
At this time, the engine is just out of its 300 mile break in period.
These cars had an optional automatic transmission when new back in 69'. These transmissions became dogs when the parts for them became unavailable. This car featured one of these transmissions, HOWEVER, when it went terminal, the car was swapped out for the 4 speed manual variant.
This transmission was hardly used before it was in the car, and has little to no problems in daily driving. There is a slight tick, if you speed shift into 2nd, however this is nearly never a problem.
If you want a fun and great looking car, look no further. The Fastback is a great not-too-distant cousin of the 912, at a much better price.

I'm asking $15,000 OBO.
I'll consider reasonable offers, so feel free if you're in the ballpark. This is a more than fair price for a mechanically sound and visually stunning classic.
