Conceived as a simple cheap easy to produce family car the Volkswagen Käfer translated from German into People's Car named Beetle. The car went on to be extremely successful all over the world and "Volkswagen Culture" defined generations of Americans. In July 2003 the last Beetle rolled off the production line in Mexico. Over 21 million units were produced and the little Beetle came in fourth place in the worldwide "car of the century" competition in 1999. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to presen...t this excellent 1978 Cabriolet for your consideration. Finished in white with a black top this is a classic combination for a classic design. The exterior of this car is gorgeous with excellent paint quality and brightwork that shows well. Upgraded VW OEM wheels look good and fit well and have nearly brand new tires on them. The black convertible top fits well and looks good. The interior is finished in grey/black cloth that looks fresh and has good padding. No rips or tares on the seats and a plastic dash piece covers the dash for protection. An aftermarket wood steering wheel looks good and classy. A modern JVC stereo accents a fully functional dash and instruments. The flat four cylinder engine is a classic VW design and starts and runs well. The engine was rebuilt with a new head recently and a large service bill binder accompanies the car. A lot of work has been put into this car including the engine and suspension work and has receipts to back it up. The standard 4-speed manual is an easy shifter and overall the car is in great shape. One of the nicest convertibles we've seen in a long time this Beetle is sure to please. To see over 80 photos of this car including under carriage please visit our website
