Conceived as a simple cheap easy to produce family car the Volkswagen Käfer translated from German into People's Car named Beetle. The car went on to be extremely successful all over the world and "Volkswagen Culture" defined generations of Americans. In July 2003 the last Beetle rolled off the production line in Mexico. Over 21 million units were produced and the little Beetle came in fourth place in the worldwide "car of the century" competition in 1999. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to presen...t this rare 1979 VW Epilogue Edition convertible one of only 900 produced. Finished in a nice combination of black body black top and black interior. Cosmetically the car is in good shape with decent paint and chrome trim. The convertible to is said to be brand new and appears to fit well. The black interior is also very nice. The seats are rip and stain free and have good cushions. The dashtop is cracked in some places but all of the instruments and switches work as they should and the wood trim looks good as well. According to the owner the car was originally sold out of St. Louis and then spent some time in southern California and Las Vegas. The current owner has owned the car for two years and has replaced the top brakes battery clutch muffler and has completed a tune up. Factory steel wheels are mounted on tires that show lots of tread left. This last year of the air cooled Beetle Convertible is a very solid running vehicle that one can enjoy right away. It starts right up and goes down the road very confidently. With owner's manuals and other documents this is one desirable bug.
